Cross Conservation News
We hope that you are managing through these challenging times.
Thank you for your support and care for the education and conservation.
Here are a few updates that we would like to share with you.
Great Canadian Giving Challenge
For the month of June, every $1 donated to charities through CanadaHelps will count as an entry for each charity to win $20,000. Support the Cross Conservation Area and other organizations in our community who need help now more than ever.

Memorial Forest Tree Planting
We are now the site for McInnis & Holloway's 2020 Memorial Forest. Families who have lost loved ones will be able to have a tree planted in their honour. A few thousand trees have been planted already. There will also be a viewpoint where families can drive to view the planted trees.

Accessible Trails Project
Recently, we received funding support from the Government of Canada's Enabling Accessibility Fund and TD Friends of the Environment to resurface our Mountain Lookout Trail and purchase two all-terrain wheelchairs to use in our education programs. Thanks to their support, more students with mobility challenges will be able to experience the benefits of learning in nature. We hope to resume our education programs soon.
Cross Conservation Trail Tails
When we closed our trails back in March, we started a series to share the area's seasonal happenings, while many people were asked to stay home. Our trails have re-opened, but Trail Tails continue. Visit our YouTube channel to get caught up.

MRU Practicum Students
This summer, as part of our ongoing partnership with Mount Royal University, several students are completing projects as volunteer practicums at the ASCCA. Here, MRU Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership student Andrew works with one of our bird-box expert volunteers as part of his project to set up a route of bluebird boxes.

We were fortunate to work with three MRU Education teacher candidates to enhance both their practicum experience and our programming capacity. For 4 weeks they focused on creating and facilitating virtual delivery of educational experiences and enhancement of our programming capacity for climate action. It was a great shared learning opportunity for everyone involved and we appreciated their diligent work during these challenging times.
