Being Together - Apart
STEWARDSHIP

In the August 5th edition of Being Together – Apart, we announced the Now and Future Church Stewardship 2021 Campaign that started this month.

In the near future you will receive a mailing with a Pledge Card enclosed. We hope you will give prayerful consideration to the financial needs of the parish, now and into the future, and complete and return your Pledge.

We also encourage you to join our Sunday Morning Prayer Zoom Services, especially on August 30th and September 13th, when members of the parish will provide personal testimonies on the importance of their faith, stewardship and membership at Church of the Holy Spirit.

Thank you in advance for your support and being a part of our sound financial future.

Faithfully yours on behalf of the Vestry,
The Stewardship Team for 2021

Georgia Schneider
WARDENS' MESSAGE
Hot enough for you? That doesn’t seem to quite capture life over the last few weeks, as we watch our gardens go into hibernation or worse and our lawns crisp up. Even routine activities seem to be challenging. But rest assured, we have been busy helping guide our parish through these interesting times.

Click Here for Steve and Melissa's full report including plans for when we will resume corporate worship at CHS.

RECENT DEATHS

Watch over thy children, O'Lord, as their days increase.
Bless and guide them wherever they may be
keeping them unspotted from the world.
Strengthen them when they stand;
comfort them when discouraged or sorrowful; raise them up if they fall;
And in their hearts, may thy peace, which passes all understanding,
Abide all the days of their lives;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
BEING INSPIRED
We have watched the Chung family grow up at CHS.

Read this inspiring article that appeared in last month's edition of Edible Cape Cod about how Dr. Benjamin Chung and family inspire others to grow and sell local produce and also make and distribute masks to those who need them.

THOU SHALT NOT TACK OR TAPE OUR DOORS!!
One of the projects that our Property Management team of Wayne Currey and Tony Johnson have completed during our pandemic shut down is the repair and repainting of all of our campus buildings' external doors and surrounding trim. This included filling in many holes in the doors and trim made by tacks and nails used to put up signs and notices.

Going forward, no one should
tack or tape anything on these doors
or surrounding trim!

If you have something that needs to be placed on or near one of the doors, you must first get approval from Gail Smith+ and then, Wayne Currey will place it in an appropriate manner.

Thank you for your cooperation and respect of our buildings.

HEALTH MINISTRY
HOW'S YOUR MENTAL HEALTH THESE DAYS?
Please take a few minutes to read the article linked below and think about your current mental health state. It is healthy to pause periodically and look inward. Stay healthy and please remember to take care of yourself while you are taking care of others.

Ann Pike-Paris' sister passed this along from her work place at NOAA. The mindfulness link is very helpful and there is an interesting mobile app from the VA on the topic. Hope you find it helpful

BEE STINGS
Have you noticed more bees around your flowers and flowering shrubs? Their stings can be lethal for some of us. If you are not allergic to bee stings but do get stung, it is still painful. Click below to read about some natural remedies you might have on hand to mitigate the itch and swelling. I have found putting vinegar on the sting right away really helps. Just be mindful of nests that can be hidden in the ground

A SILLY LITTLE DITTIE By Sue Sasso

One morning last week, as I poured my morning coffee, I found myself singing one of my favorite Sonny & Cher songs... "And the beat goes on". That's about how I felt.

During this pandemic time, I wake up each day, lay in bed trying to figure out what day it is and what's on the docket... AND THE BEAT JUST GOES ON AND ON AND ON, every day
always seems the same, just one day at a time. So, I found myself writing my pandemic parody of the song and decided to share it here with you.

Now you too can have this song running through your mind for a few days.....
....and the beat goes on! Clearly I need to find more things to do! ;-)

**********************************************************
ORIGINAL SUNG BY SONNY AND CHER

The beat goes on, the beat goes on
Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain
La de da de de, la de da de da

Charleston was once the rage, uh huh
History has turned the page, uh huh
The mini skirts, the current thing, uh huh
Teenybopper is our newborn king, uh huh
And the beat goes on, the beat goes on

Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain
La de da de de, la de da de da
The grocery store's the super mart, uh huh
Little girls still break their hearts, uh huh
And men still keep on marching off to war
Electrically they keep a baseball score
And the beat goes on, the beat goes on

Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain
La de da de de, la de da de da
Grandmas sit in chairs and reminisce
Boys keep chasing girls to get a kiss
The cars keep going faster all the time
Bums still cry, "Hey buddy, have you got a dime?"
And the beat goes on, the beat goes on

Drums keep pounding a rhythm to the brain
La de da de de, la de da de da
And the beat goes on, yes, the beat goes on
And the beat goes on, and the beat goes on
The beat goes on, and the beat goes on
SUE'S PARODY

The beat goes on, the beat goes on
TV keeps pounding a rhythm to the brain.
La de da de, la de da de da.

Dining out used to be the rage, uh huh
History has turned to a new page, uh huh
Cloth face masks, the current thing uh huh
Fauchi is our new born king, uh huh.
And the beat goes on, the beat goes on.

TV keeps pounding a rhythm to the brain
La de da de de, la de da de da.
The grocery stores have one way lanes, uh huh
Little kids just want to play outside, uh huh
No sports or other events to attend so
No one even gets to keep a score.
And the beat goes on, the beat goes on

TV keeps pounding a rhythm to the brain.
La de da de de, la de da de da
Grandmas sit in chairs and reminisce
Masks prevent boys from stealing even one kiss.
Jobs and schools we don’t know what to do
When will we finally recover from this flu?
And the beat goes on, the beat goes on

TV keeps pounding a rhythm to the brain
La de da de de, la de da de da
And the beat goes on, yes, the beat goes on
We wear our masks, stand 6’ apart
And the flu will move out if we all do our part.

the kind we pray for every Sunday morning -
