...At the Heart of Reflection and Hope

At the Volunteer Center, July 1 marks the
first day of our new fiscal year so we are full of hope for the year ahead.

As we look back and reflect on all the unimaginable difficulties that the COVID pandemic presented over the last twelve months, we are also filled with awe and gratitude for all of the ways that you generously showed up for our families and kept our programs going!

Highlights include:
  • We set a record and took in 15 TONS of food over the holidays, and distributed it to our network of local nonprofit partners and schools.
  • We partnered with County Supervisor Janice Hahn to deliver more than 2,500 meal vouchers, helping both hungry families and struggling community businesses.
  • We hosted Connect, our youth wellness program, giving two groups of local youth a chance to connect with peers and learn valuable coping tools. (Our third group starts July 6.)
  • We delivered 2,500 schoolbags filled with more than 50,000 educational and wellness items and 55 Zoom-based lessons to local low-income first graders.
  • We received major COVID-relief funding from partners including the Helen and Larry Hoag FoundationL3Harris, Supervisor Janice Hahn and Los Angeles County, the Open Hearts Foundation, and the Shinnoy-en Foundation. These grants helped us combat economic losses so we could continue to feed families and increase empathy and volunteer service in our community.
As we plan for next year's programming, the list of schools and organization awaiting our help is still growing. Would you please consider joining our family of incredible monthly donors, to ensure that we can remain "at the heart of helping" where we are needed most?

Crayola 16-count and/or 24-count crayons and drop them off at our Center Mon-Fri 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.. You can also email [email protected] to make arrangements for after hour donations. Sending you big hugs!
You've got this!
Happy to help!
Let's create a world of kindness!
You're the best!
Keep smiling!
