Register to Attend December Town Hall Meeting
Friday, December 16 at 1:30pm Central (US and Canada)
Town Hall Meetings are not recorded! Be sure to register to attend and provide your input!
You are invited to participate in a Town Hall hosted by the CoAEMSP Board and Staff. This is an opportunity for programs to provide insight into the strengths of CoAEMSP, and the value of accreditation, offer suggestions for improvement and assist in making any needed enhancements.
The CoAEMSP will provide an update on projects completed since the last Town Hall (Listening Session), projects in progress, and what is on the horizon.
(The format will allow for two-way communication, so your comments may be provided via voice or chat.)
We value your comments and appreciate your participation.
Following are the prompts that may be used to facilitate the Town Hall.
- How can we (CoAEMSP) better communicate with you and your staff?
- What information on the CAAHEP Standards and CoAEMSP process would best assist you in the daily operation of your program? (Basically, what information do you need that you currently don’t have?)
- What are the strengths of accreditation?
- What do you value about accreditation?
- What opportunities exist for accreditation to better meet your needs?
- What do you think about CoAEMSP programs and services?
- How could CoAEMSP support you more effectively? If you could change one thing with the accreditation process, what would it be?
- What is one thing you would like the CoAEMSP Board or staff to know?
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the Town Hall.

Where Is Your Program? Alternate Locations and Satellites
EMS education modalities continue to evolve from original single-location classrooms to alternatives in delivery as technology grows. Changes may be driven by the availability of resources, workforce and agency needs, or by the desire of learners for a non-traditional learning environment. In response to these needs, programs may develop satellite locations or use alternate locations to deliver classroom and laboratory activities. Regardless of the modality, students attending Paramedic programs must receive the same educational program, and the CoAEMSP policies describe the requirements for Satellites and Alternate Locations. This session will review these requirements and considerations for implementation and provide examples of best practices for managing the delivery.
At the conclusion of this presentation, the participant will be able to:
• Describe the differences between a Satellite and an Alternate Location.
• List the requirements of a Satellite and an Alternate Location.
• Discuss considerations in developing a Satellite or Alternate Location.

Resource Assessment: When, Why, and How…& the Resource Assessment Matrix
Effectively educating Paramedic students is challenging, requiring many different resources. Each year Paramedic programs are required to complete a Resource Assessment Survey of both program personnel and students. Survey results include 10 different component areas and are reported using the Resource Assessment Matrix. Annually assessing resources provides program leadership, including the medical director and advisory committee, the ability to reaffirm areas of strength and develop action plans for areas in need of improvement. Sign up now to review the process for your program’s resource assessment.
At the conclusion of this presentation, the participant will be able to:
- Summarize the 10 component areas required in the resource assessment survey.
- Describe the process to complete the Resource Assessment Surveys and Resource Assessment Matrix.
- Examine the importance of annual resource assessment.

Accreditation of AEMT Programs
The National EMS Scope of Practice document calls for AEMT accreditation to be made available by 2025. The CoAEMSP is developing the framework to support this. Seeking accreditation for an AEMT program is voluntary; any requirement for accreditation will come from the individual states.
The CoAEMSP Board thoroughly discussed a proposal on behalf of the Program Directors Advisory Council Workgroup for the Program Director Advisory Council. The consultative group, the Program Directors (PD) Group, offers expertise and valuable input to the CoAEMSP Board of Directors. The role of the PD Group is not a governing body and does not set policy. In its consultative role, the group offers feedback and perspective to the CoAEMSP Board, Committees, and staff, especially relating to day-to-day operational aspects of CAAHEP accredited and CoAEMSP Letter of Review Paramedic programs. Members of the Group are volunteers. The conversation continues and the Board will take action at its next meeting.
Program Policy & Interpretations of Standards
The Policy & Procedures Manual for Programs will be updated one time per year, following the May board meeting. Additional revisions may be released when emergent.
