Learn about joining Impact100 Philadelphia

Are you or any friends or colleagues interested in learning about membership in Impact100? Please join us for a short information session tomorrow , Wednesday, July 22 at 6pm on Zoom.

We’ll talk about why women choose to become members, how our grantmaking works, and why our grant funding is needed in 2021 more than ever.

Grantees in the News
Women's Center, ACLAMO, and Mighty Writers in the spotlight

Our 2020 $100,000 Core Mission grantees have made the news in recent months.

In this article in The Mercury about the rise in domestic abuse during the pandemic, Maria Macaluso of the Women's Center of Montgomery County said, "We want domestic violence victims to know they are not alone," and described the legal advocacy and counseling services the Women's Center continued to provide during the shut-down.

Nelly Jimenez of ACLAMO was covered in numerous TV and print pieces about the Supreme Court's DACA decision in June. In this article in The Times Herald , she said, "This is a win for the DACA dreamers. We are celebrating today but we're going back to work tomorrow... to find a permanent path DACA recipients."

And on a lighter note, Mighty Writers staff member Tyreek Wanamaker was featured on the TV show Queer Eye (Episode 4) on June 5. This article gives an update on how Mighty Writers and Tyreek have continued to help others during the pandemic.
Recognizing outgoing Board members
Four board members leaving after a combined 10 years of service

It is with the deepest gratitude that we recognize the dedication and service of four board members whose terms ended June 30:

  • Grants Co-Chair: Toby Gang
  • Membership Co-Chair: Tamara Banko
  • Membership Co-Chair: Kathy Schlesinger
  • Assistant Secretary: Michelle Nguyen

Toby, Tamara, and Kathy served during a time of tremendous membership growth as well as significant changes to our grants process -- and all that was before the events of this past spring that required even more of their attention and management! We can't thank them enough for their commitment and care of Impact100 over the past three years. We also thank Assistant Secretary Michelle Nguyen for her service last year. Michelle brought a quick mind and keen insights to board discussions and governance issues. Finally, we want to acknowledge the leadership of Madge Rothenberg, who will remain on the board as Past President, but served Impact100 with incredible grace and dedication as Co-President for the past three years.

On July 1, Impact100 Philadelphia's 2020-21 Board of Directors took office, and we are particularly delighted to welcome the four new board members whose names are in blue. We're also indebted, beyond what words can express, to Administrator Cari Sundermeier for the skills and good-natured management she brings to all she does for Impact100.
