VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

To our wonderful community,

Together, the Federation and River Garden are seeking volunteers to help shop for groceries that will be delivered to residents of The Coves. If you are available to help, please sign up at the link below, which will show the available days and times.

The program will run through June and July and potentially into August, however that will be determined at a later date. Some additional details are included below. Please reach out to Faye Hedrick at fayeh@jewishjacksonville.org with any questions. Thank you so much for considering volunteering your time to help support your community!

* There will be no River Garden campus interaction
* Matthew Jackson is the contact and he will give his cell number for communication and questions once a volunteer has signed up
* Shoppers will meet Matthew at 10:30 at Publix on Old St. Augustine Road by Losco Road, north of 295
* Responsible and dependable teens 16 and older can be shoppers (Community Service hours will be available through the Federation)
* We are seeking 3 shoppers each day, Monday through Friday, for a total of 15 shoppers per week

On the day of shopping;
1) Matthew meets the shoppers at 10:30 at Publix
2) Matthew divides out the shopping lists evenly amongst the shoppers
3) The shoppers shop the store for the items and then return to a prearranged check out area
4) Matthew and the shopper check out and double check the lists

Our next “Dinner” with the Rabbi is scheduled for Thursday, July 23rd at 7 p.m. It will be our usual format, but conducted on Zoom and of course you are on you own for dinner. Rabbi Matuson will present a challenging topic with discussion to follow. You will be welcome to submit questions in the chat box, or you can raise your hand to be recognized.

If interested, please RSVP to me at dadler6154@gmail.com , and a couple of days ahead of the date I will send you the link.
If you have not Zoomed before, let me know and we will try to set you up ahead of time.

I look forward to seeing you, even if not in person.
Regards,
David
BETH EL SISTERHOOD
Sisterhood members and friends enjoying Havdalah, jokes and each other!
Please join us for our next virtual BELLES ( B eth E l L iterary L adies E njoying S isterhood):  Thursday   July 2 nd  (6:45 to socialize, 7:00 to start).

Gail Greenfield will facilitate our discussion of the book Raquela: A Woman of Israel, the National Book Award winner by Ruth Gruber. This book is packed with the history, as Raquela lived it, of the independence of the state of Israel. Her family had lived in Jerusalem for 10 generations. Raquela trained as a nurse at Hadassah Hospital, during WWII. She worked in the DP camps in Cyprus, nursed Golda Meir’s daughter, knew Ben Gurion, was part of the growth of Beer Sheva---This really is a “You are there” book.

If you do not use Zoom but want to join the discussion by smart phone, you can! Open this email on your phone, and tap the “one tap mobile” link below.

Interested in Bird Watching?
Isabel Balotin: Shalom Jacksonville Director
While sheltering in place, I became more aware of nature’s wonders, especially the variety and beauty of our local fine feathered friends. After posting on Facebook with questions about my new-found hobby, I learned there are many birders in my neighborhood.
Wherever you in this hobby, whether you just have a bird feeder and enjoy watching the birds or if you want to learn more and share your knowledge, this is the group for you. We can Zoom meet periodically and/or create a FB page for support and information.

Interested? Please contact Isabel Balotin, shalomjax@jewishjacksonville.org (preferred) or 904-224-1408.
