IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Clayton Medford, NOVA Chamber's Vice President, Government Relations
Virginia's Special Session In Full Swing
The Special Session kicked off in Richmond on Tuesday, with the Senate meeting together at the Science Museum of Virginia and the House virtually. The House gets started in earnest this week with committee meetings, while the Senate got a head start last week due to their meeting in person. The budget, COVID, criminal justice reforms, and education funding are the top issues. It remains unclear what will rise to the top of the more than 200 bills introduced.

  • How long will the General Assembly's special session last? No one knows. Read more here: The News & Advance

  • Sweeping police reform legislation advances in Senate, with law enforcement groups now largely on board. Read more here: Virginia Mercury
Keep an eye out in early August for the Chamber’s legislative priorities for the Special Session. In the meantime, please contact me at cmedford@novachamber.org with any questions or concerns.
