Water Conservation

As the temperatures ramp up, so might our water usage! Team HMC is here to help you and your community stay on top of ways you can help conserve water this year.

Sprucing Up Your Sprinkler:
  • Inspect - Check your system for clogged, broken or missing sprinkler heads.
  • Connect - Examine points where the sprinkler heads connect to pipes/hoses. If water pools in your landscaping, you could have a leak in your system.
  • Direct - Are you watering the driveway, house, or sidewalk instead of your yard? Redirect sprinklers to apply water only to the landscape.
  • Select - An improperly scheduled irrigation controller can waste a lot of water and money. Be sure to update your system's schedule with the seasons.

Irrigation Water Use Facts:
  • Residential outdoor water use across the U.S. accounts for nearly 9 billion gallons of water each day, mainly for landscape irrigation.
  • Experts estimate that as much as half of the water we use outdoors is being wasted due to evaporation, wind, or runoff caused by inefficient irrigation methods and systems.
  • Homes with clock-timer-controlled irrigation systems use about 50 percent more water outdoors than homes without them. Your system can waste even more if it's programmed incorrectly, a sprinkler head is pointed in the wrong direction, or you have a leak.
  • A system that isn't properly programmed or maintained can waste as much as 25,000 gallons of water annually.
  • A broken or missing sprinkler head could waste as much as 25,000 gallons of water and $280 over a six-month irrigation season.

Giving Back To Our Health Care Heroes

Over the past couple of months, our health care workers have been putting themselves at the forefront of the battle against COVID-19. Team HMC thanks and appreciates all of the hard work and dedication that these community members continue to put forth during this time.

In an effort to aid our front line heroes in the fight against COVID-19, HMC's Director of Operations, Betina Hunt CCAM-EX and Community Association Manager, Molly Schessow CCAM spent time with their family crafting medical grade face masks to donate to local medical facilities.

We are proud and thankful to have team members who rise to the occasion to support those who are already doing all they can to help the community. From everyone here at Homeowners Management Company, Thank You to all of our Health Care Heroes and all other active relief workers.

Business  Partner Spotlight:
Axis Construction & Berg Insurance

One of our managed communities experienced an unusual property emergency recently when someone drove a vehicle into one of the buildings, causing significant damage, (pictures below). Axis Construction was contacted and their team was able to shore up the building within hours so the vehicle could be extricated and then went above and beyond to secure the home, protecting the owners' personal property.

While this was going on, Terri Guest with Berg Insurance Agency (the association's insurance broker) was contacted after-hours and immediately jumped into action, helped open a claim right there on the phone and was available to answer any and all questions as they arose. Terri has continued to stay involved and in contact with the manager to ensure the client's needs were taken care of.

We are only as strong as the business partners we depend upon and are extremely grateful for the responsive service and follow through by Axis Construction and Berg Insurance Agency!
