In Memory of IMSA Section Leadership
Remembering Lewis E. Roberts, Jr. (Sonny)
Born on December 20, 1945 and passed away on January 15, 2022 at the age 76. Sonny died peacefully in the Banner Boswell Hospice, Sun City AZ, with family by his side.

Sonny graduated from Central High School, Davenport, IA and Fresno City College, Fresno, CA. He served honorably in the Air Force from 1966-1977 where he served in Japan, Korea, Thailand, Okinawa and Vietnam. He was an instructor at Keesler Air Force Base Biloxi, MS, for several tours. After his discharge he worked for the City of Davenport, Department of Transportation as Traffic Superintendent; City of Fresno, CA, as Supervisor Traffic and Street Lights; and until his retirement for Iteris, Inc., Santa Ana, CA as Sr. Applications Engineer and Primary Technical Trainer.

Sonny was active in several organizations: he was a past Board Member of both the Far Western Section and the International Municipal Signal Association Education Foundation. Sonny also taught classes at the local and national level from 1980 until 2012.

Sonny was an Eagle Scout and served as Scout Master at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
