Happy Retirement to K-9 Britt.
Tracker, narcotics expert, and dedicated public-safety servant.
On Monday, May 3, we said a tearful goodbye to a loyal member of the Cornelius Police Department. K-9 Officer Britt retired after more than eight years of fighting crime with his best friend, Corporal Robert Russell.
Officer Britt was one of two K-9s in the CPD. He and Corporal Russell were trained and certified in Patrol and Narcotics. Over the past nine years Britt has been instrumental in tracking and arresting wanted persons, detecting narcotics, and locating missing or endangered children and adults.
He has also held the highest level of tracking certifications in the United Police Working Dogs Association and the American Police Canine
Association for many years. Britt has participated in numerous K-9 demonstrations and has spent thousands of hours training during his career.
