... what thoughts, feelings or decisions come up for you?
For us it is clear; When
Black Lives Matter,
we are all creating a safer more just world for our children to inherit. When Black Lives are no longer at risk of murder, we all benefit from eradicating and reforming the systemic injustice that persists in our country and our world. Did you know that
the protests today have stretched far and beyond our 50 states? Europeans, Australians, Africans and Puerto Ricans are joining the call to action against racism; making it the largest civil rights movement in world history

When your children ask you about this year in history, what will you say?
What will they remember?
In these uncomfortable, painful times some of us are spending so much more time "protecting" ourselves, and our children from the atrocities, injustices and growing uncertainties in our nation. Some of us have taken to hide our grief, our sorrow, our disappointments, frustrations and pain from our children. Some of us are even giving more weight to the looting, rioting and destruction of property, than of the lives lost, or in the pivotal point in history we are living through for the lives at stake. Some of us, do not have that privilege and/or are actively working to use and harness that privilege, standing together, united, to say enough is enough.
When we engage our children in respectful, developmentally appropriate discourse (see resources/links below) on race, privilege, inclusion, and civic engagement, we actively are building their character, and imparting important social and life skills such as empathy, compassion and respect to support safe, inclusive and thriving communities for all of us to enjoy. As an organizational non profit leader, a Latina, and a mother, I stand in solidarity, because Black Lives Matter.
I truly believe that together we are co-creating something extraordinary with and for our families and communities, thank you for standing with us,

60-minute special "Coming Together: Standing Up to Racism. A CNN/Sesame Street Town Hall for Kids and Families" will air on Saturday, June 6, at 10 a.m. ET.
The show will talk to kids about racism, the recent nationwide protests, embracing diversity and being more empathetic and understanding.

Para nosotros estamos claros; Cuando las
Vidas Negras Importan
, todos estamos creando un mundo mas sano y salvo para heredarles a nuestros hijos. Cuando las Vidas Negras salgan de peligro de ser assasinadas, todos beneficiamos de erradicar y reformar los sistemas injustos que persisten en nuestro pais y en nuestro mundo.
Las protestas hoy en dia, han llegado mas alla de los 50 estados.
Europeos, Australianos, Africanos y Puertorriqueños se unen al llamado a la acción contra el racismo; convirtiéndolo en el movimiento de derechos civiles mas grande en la historia mundial (

¿Cuando sus hijos les pregunten sobre este año en la historia, que les diras?
¿Ellos que recordaran?
En estos momentos incomodos, y tan dolorosos, algunos de nosotros estamos pasando bastante tiempor en "protejiendonos" a nosotros mismos y/o a nuestros hijos de las ascerocidades, injusticias e incertidumbres en las que estamos pasando (a nivel nacional). Algunos de nosotros estamos finjiendo esconder nuestra tristesa, decepciones, frustraciones y dolor de nuestros hijos. Algunos de nosotros incluso le estamos dando mas importancia y gravedad a la destruccion de la propiedad que a las vidas perdidas, o en el punto critico al que estamos ahorrita en haciendo y formando parte de este momento en la historia por la cual mas vidas dependen. Algunos de nosotros no tenemos ese privilegio y/o estamos trabajando activamente para usar y aprovechar ese privilegio para estar juntos, unidos, para decir firmemente ya basta.
Cuando involucramos a nuestros hijos en un discurso respetuoso y apropiado para el desarrollo conforme su edad (vea recursos y enlaces a continuación) sobre raza, privilegio e inclusión y compromiso cívico, estamos construyendo activamente su carácter e impartiendo importantes habilidades sociales y de la vida como la empatía, la compasión y el respeto. para apoyar en crear y realizar comunidades seguras, inclusivas y prósperas para que todos podamos disfrutar de ello.
