'Take Heart' Sophomore Retreats
|
The Sophomore Retreat is called "Take Heart," inspired by the scene in Matthew's Gospel where, in the middle of a storm, Jesus comes walking on water to his disciples. He tells them, “Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid” (Matthew 14:27). All BCHS sophomores will attend a retreat within the next month.
"Take Heart" is an opportunity to take a step back from worries and distractions so that we can refocus our eyes on Christ. Like on other BCHS retreats, there will be times for faith witnesses, small group sharing, and quiet reflection. A slew of camping metaphors will help students connect their faith with tangible images. Additionally, a handful of high ropes opportunities makes the Sophomore Retreat unique from other retreats.
Sophomore Retreat takes place at Camp Allendale in Trafalgar, Indiana. The day begins at 7:30 a.m. at BCHS, and students will return to BCHS around 9 p.m. Parents/guardians will receive an electronic permission form a few weeks before their sophomore will attend retreat, as well as further information. Please click here for more information on the retreat, to view the permission form, and see the retreat rosters. Email Joel Kelley at jkelley@bishopchatard.org with any questions.

Join Our Prayer Warriors to End Gun Violence
|
One year ago, on August 12, Jack Shockley, Bishop Chatard Class of 2014, was murdered by a man with a gun. Indianapolis suffers from some of the highest rates of gun violence in the country, and it has grown worse over the past year. In solidarity with faith communities across our city, the Jack Shockley Warriors for Peace, www.warriors4peace.org, invite the Bishop Chatard community to join in a season of fasting and prayer to end gun violence.
All interested are asked to join the effort and find a time to intentionally pray for the Shockley family and an end to the violence in our city. You are invited to fast from food, drink or something substantial and offer it as a prayer, for 24 hours (Thursday, 12 p.m. – Friday, 12 p.m.), every Thursday/Friday. We will be praying/fasting with faith communities closest to the worst of gun violence in our city.
