Dear Presbytery Family,

Stay Connected by joining in prayer, highlighting resources, learning about upcoming events, and sharing updates from the Coordinating Council.
Prayer
This week we join together in prayer for those affected by Tropical Storm Elsa and the Surfside community:

Tropical Storm Elsa:
As we send this email today we continue to monitor the path of Tropical Storm Elsa with prayer, preparation, and attention to safety and the needs of others. Click here to access the webpage for our presbytery's Disaster Preparation and Assistance Commission.

Surfside Community:
We ask for continued prayer for those impacted by the Surfside condominium collapse – for the victims and their families, for the survivors, for the community that is shaken and grieving, and for all those who continue working at the site. The Presbytery of Tropical Florida, the Florida Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Network, and many community officials recommend that donations be through www.surfsidesupport.org. This fund has been established by multiple community foundations and key organizations mobilized to meet immediate needs, coordinating with emergency service personnel to support those affected.

Almighty and everlasting God, You are strength to those who suffer and comfort to those who grieve. Let the prayers of Your children rise to you. Hear us as we pray for all those who have been impacted by the collapse of the Surfside condo in Miami. Bring the comfort of Your Holy Spirit to surround those who have lost family members and to those who wait in uncertainty and in hope. Hear us as we pray for the first responders who continue the difficult work of search and recovery.  Surround those who have been shaken by tragedy with a sense of Your present love. Though they may be overcome by grief and distress, may they find comfort through the love of friends and strangers. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, the Resurrection and the Life. Amen.

Resources and Opportunities
Scripture
Coordinating Council Chair Edd Norris invites the presbytery to share in the reading and study of scripture. You are invited to read Matthew 18: 1-8.
Matthew 25 Resources
We are a Matthew 25 presbytery committed to all three focus areas of the Matthew 25 Invitation. The PCUSA Store has compiled a Matthew 25 Resource Guide where you will find resources that specifically address the focus area in the Matthew 25 initiative. These include everything from group study to leadership to books and resources for children and youth. Even if your church or group has not officially signed on to be a Matthew 25 organization, the resources in this digital guide allow you to work toward the faith-based initiatives of building congregational vitality, dismantling structural racism, and eradicating systemic poverty. Click on the link above or the Matthew 25 logo for the resource guide!
