A Note From Pastor Joanna Mitchell
May 10th, 2021

Dear Grace Lutheran,

I wanted to let you know that Debbie Jorgens, our director of outreach ministry has submitted her resignation. Her final day will be Sunday, June 6th, 2021 when we will celebrate her ministry with us.

In her letter of resignation Debbie wrote the following:

For the past few months, I have been prayerfully discerning where the Spirit is leading me next. As a result, I have accepted an internship in Clinical Pastoral Education at Mercy Hospital next fall. The internship is 24 hours a week, and I want to immerse myself fully in this experience rather than trying to balance CPE and my work at Grace. I believe this is in the congregation’s and my best interest.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve alongside the wonderful people of Grace for nearly three years and have been inspired by the many ways this congregation reaches out in love and service to our neighbors in this community and across the world.

I expect to spend much of the summer at the Jorgens’ family farm in north-central Wisconsin before beginning my internship in September. Beyond this, I have no idea where the Spirit will lead me. But whether I remain actively engaged at Grace or am led elsewhere, I will always be grateful for my time here and for the love, encouragement and support I have received from so many.

Please know that I will be praying for you and the people of Grace in the months ahead as the Spirit leads you in new and exciting ways to share God’s gracious and abundant love in the world.

I am grateful for Debbie and her leadership on our staff. I will miss her questions and her kind and generous spirit. I know that God is leading her into new territory. I pray for God's blessings to be on her on the journey ahead.

Blessings,

Pastor Joanna Mitchell
