First Week of School Delivery Model |

CMS first week ramp up
The first week of school has been thoughtfully planned to appropriately prepare our students for the hybrid model. Students will work on tasks designed to get them up to speed with their technology, their organization for learning, video conferencing and other tools, our behavior expectations and more.
Here is an outline of the week:
Monday & Tuesday
Cohort A: In person at CMS. The focus is on a high level of social-emotional support as we walk students through their in-school orientations. This includes attention to social distancing, temperature checks, meals, and more.
Cohort B & middle level EP Online: Students will receive information to prepare them for synchronous (student-teacher connections with video conferencing) and asynchronous (students work at their own pace; with support from teachers as needed) online learning. These include setting a home workspace, developing a schedule, working with online tools, reviewing behavior expectations and more.
Wednesday & Thursday

Virtual learning for all CMS students: Teachers will connect with their students and the focus is on working with/testing the technology, so that students are prepared for future virtual learning days.

For those families who will be driving their students to school each day, please plan to arrive no earlier than 7:30am. When you drop your student(s) off, they will wait in one of our gymnasiums where we can maintain social distancing. We will send out a video to show you what this will look like. |

If your student will no longer be taking the bus to school or if you need additional changes to your bus schedule please utilize this Google Form.

Prior to the first day of school, please update your iPad to the latest iOS version. This will ensure your iPad is up-to-date and will provide the best app experience. For instructions on updating, please follow the link found here.
If your student does not yet have an iPad please contact the technology helpline at 952-975-7094 to set up a time to pick one up.

In order to maintain social distancing guidelines during lunch, students may be assigned to a cafeteria or supervised classroom. Students can bring lunch from home or purchase a grab and go style lunch from the cafeteria using their district lunch account. Procedures are being put into place for a contactless lunch distribution.

As a reminder, we will not be having a traditional open house for students. During a normal open house, students and families would come to CMS to begin to get to know the building, walk schedules, learn about lockers, purchase supplies and have photos taken.
- Schedules will be available in Infinite Campus ASAP. Schedule release is pending the EP Online registration timeline.
- School photos are postponed until later in the school year.
- Our School Store is virtual this year.
- We're still trying to plan for a meaningful experience that will orient our students to CMS.

In light of construction and student safety, students will not be utilizing general lockers or gym lockers this year. When students come to school, they will carry all of their belongings to and from class in their bags or backpacks. On days where students have physical education, we'd ask for them to dress in active wear if at all possible. |

The CMS School Store will be using a virtual platform to ensure access to supplies for all of our families. Three package options containing essential supplies have been assembled for CMS students.
- Package One ($36.20): 2" binder, calculator (scientific), cleaning cloth, composition notebook, earbuds, eraser, extra fine sharpie markers (2), highlighter (yellow), highlighters (6 pack - assorted colors), paper (graph), paper (loose leaf), pencil lead, pencil pouch, pencils (#2, box of 12), pencil (mechanical), pens (2), planner, plastic pocket folders (6 assorted colors, 1 black), protractor, sheet protectors (10), stylus for iPad.
- Package Two ($26.20): All the materials in package one without the calculator.
- Package Three ($5.00): Planner only
Supplies will be available online through the My Payments Plus platform. Families are able to register on My Payments Plus and create an account, enabling them to pay for lunch credit, activities fees and school store supplies.
Once an account is created, please select ‘Central Middle School Activities’ and ‘CMS Supplies’ in the drop down boxes. This will take you to the supplies order page.
Supplies will be delivered to a student's classroom at the start of the school year. EP Online students will need to contact Malalai Khattak for alternate arrangements.

Clases Regulares/de enriquecimiento
Debido a la complejidad del horario escolar este año, no ofreceremos una diferenciación entre clases regulares y clases de enriquecimiento/avanzadas. Por ejemplo, si su estudiante pidió tomar inglés Enriquecido/Avanzado, en vez de esa clase su horario ahora mostrará inglés. Ante este cambio, hemos pedido a todo nuestro personal que incluya, al máximo posible, el contenido de las clases avanzadas en cada clase. Con los constantes cambios al número de estudiantes inscribiéndose a las clases en la escuela en línea (EP online), seguimos modificando nuestro horario principal lo cual está causando retrasos en la finalización de los horarios de los estudiantes. Por favor tengan paciencia con nosotros y tenderán los horarios de los estudiantes lo más pronto posible.

iPads

Almuerzo
