Don't forget to fly your American flags and bunting fans to celebrate America's Independence Day.
If you're wondering about flag and decorative guidelines on BHI, read on. Keep in mind that you can drop off worn flags to be retired at the BHA office 9:00am-4:00pm Monday-Friday.
In accordance with state law, United States and North Carolina flags smaller than 4’ x 6’ are not subject to approval by the Architectural Review Committee (ARC). United States flags shall be in good condition and displayed in a respectful manner in accordance with the United States flag code of 1976. To read more about flags and flagpoles in the Design Guidelines, it's on page 127. Click HERE for the Design Guidelines (for a keyword search, click CTRL+F once the document is fully opened).
Decorative items are covered on page 125 in the Design Guidelines. Here is a partial explanation, but please read the entire guideline: "All exterior decorative items (including temporary holiday decorations) must be constructed of natural and organic materials and blend seamlessly within the home and landscape design. Colors should complement the natural surroundings. Holiday novelty decorations like blowups and items that are inconsistent with this guideline are not allowed. See additional information under Lighting."

The Wildlife Overlook Continues to Progress
Construction progress continues on the Wildlife Overlook on Stede Bonnet Wynd. While it appears from the road that the project is nearly complete, there are still a number of important items that need to be installed — including signage, retaining walls, steel panels, vegetation and parking — before the Overlook can be opened to members, their guests and the public. It is crucial to remember that this is an active construction site — DO NOT ENTER.
The project’s schedule has been frustratingly delayed this year by barge scheduling, materials shortages and the complexities of construction on BHI. BHA hopes to have the entire project wrapped up in time for the Labor Day weekend, barring any unforeseen challenges. (But, no promises!) Visit BHA’s website HERE for more status updates and photos.
