President's Farewell

It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the President for the Idaho Association of Health Underwriter’s this past year. I want to thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigated the world of virtual meetings as well as your confidence in the 2020-2021 IAHU board. Thank you for your participation, encouragement, and dedication to our association, to your clients, to your communities, and the industry we serve. With a feeling of sadness and a sigh of relief, I turn the gavel over to the very competent and capable Guy Stubbs.

As I finish out my year as President I would like to take a few minutes to reflect on the accomplishments that we have achieved as a Chapter. The last year has been a year of growth as we learned how to put on a half day virtual event, our 2020 Fall Forum, along with monthly board meetings and local meetings. With our 2021 Golf Tournament cancelled we were still able to make a donation of $5,629.00 to the Suicide Prevention Hotline. Our Christmas Auction put on by Auction Frogs was also a successful virtual event. As a Chapter we donated $5,000 to City Lights. At the IAHU Symposium we honored the 2020 and 2021 P.I.C. Award Recipients, Pedro Rojas, and Lisa Brown. In addition, TVAHU was also recognized as a Gold Certified Chapter. Moving forward we can see a light at the end of the tunnel as we are planning our in person Golf Tournament scheduled for the month of August along with our 2021 Fall Forum. Thank you to all of our members who made this past year amazing and one we will never forget.

Thank you for your continued membership, that supports the work at your local chapter, state, and national levels. I believe we can best achieve or mission statement of: Through education, advocacy, and professional development, we will improve our members’ ability to meet the health, financial and retirement security needs of all Idahoans. By joining together through membership and working together.

I want to thank Malia Rogers, Carey Spears, Brad Miles and all the hands that went into making our annual May event a success. Thank you, Mountain Health Co-op, for sponsoring our event and joining us virtually from Idaho and Montana. I want to thank Mark Wild for giving us a legislative update. The legislative work that goes on in our organization cannot be emphasized enough. Thank you, Bill Miles, for helping with the election ballots. Thank you to, Brian Glidden for presenting Malia Rogers with the member of the year award. Special Thanks to Spears Insurance for sponsoring the pastries and coffee for our event. We recognized a new member and guests. Not only were we able to enjoy a nice lunch, speakers, connecting with friends and associates but we learned together. The event was held at the Coeur d Alene Best Western. We also raised funds for IPAC that support our Idaho priorities with our legislators.

Moving Forward

Going forward, July 8^th the 2021-2022 board will meet to put together our plan for the rest of 2021 and 2022.We need a couple of board positions if you or someone you know may have an interest. Communications chair, this involves sending out group emails to our membership. We are also looking for a membership chair, which involves reaching out to prospective agents in the area and making them aware of NAHU and membership benefits. Tips and Tricks

I have noticed folks over the years change email addresses and to make sure NAHU, IAHU and our chapter has the correct email address on file, log into your NAHU account at www.nahu.org Select membership, to update your email address and demographics.

Another common issue I have noticed, is a billing item. Credit Card expiration dates or changed bank account causing payments to fail. This results in a lapsed membership and often members are not aware there is an issue until someone reaches out to them. If you need to update your credit card or banking information for your NAHU dues, you can do this by logging into your NAHU account at www.nahu.org , select membership and update billing.
