Sermon Text: Genesis 1:1-2:4
The Road Less Traveled
I haven't said anything because I did not know what to say. I found myself wanting to speak, but the words eluded me.
For the past week as the nation has struggled to absorb the reality of the death of George Floyd while in the custody of Minneapolis Police, as we have grappled with the rage and...
One of our Methodist traditions is to "pound" our outgoing pastor. Pounding is celebrating and giving the pastor a pound of flour, a pound of sugar, (disposable paper products in 2020) etc. to help as he moves to his new home. "Pounding" is an example of the graciousness and generosity we Methodists show to others.
Thanks for working so hard on our re-opening plan, considering the safety of our church family! We begin next week!

Vacation Bible School 2020
COVID-19 has derailed many of our children's ministries for the last few months; and unfortunately, this year's Vacation Bible School ("Rock Railway") is another one. Aledo UMC staff and leaders, based on the recommended CDC guidance, have made the tough decision to cancel this year's Vacation Bible School -
as we have known it!
Alternatively, we have something else in mind! We are in the process of planning a virtual Bible school with fun activities, so stay tuned for details!
If you or anyone you know is in need of food Aledo UMC has Manna bags ready to go. Hours to pick up a bag of canned goods are Tuesdays and Thursdays, noon-3:00pm, in the Narthex. If you live in Parker County and are needing help on a utility bill, please email info@aledoumc.org or call 817-441-8329.
Stay Connected With Your Aledo UMC Family
Aledo UMC has heeded the warnings from health officials and temporarily closed the church offices for the foreseeable future. We are still the church, sohere are several ways for our AUMC family to stay connected through the week:
Sunday
10 am - Adult Sunday school - Facebook Live (Aledo UMC Page)
As we move into virtual worship and other gatherings for the foreseeable future, now is a great time to connect with online giving to ensure that the ministries and outreach of the church are not interrupted.
There are two basic ways to give electronically, and both are quick and simple.
The best option is to give via a direct transfer from your checking account. This is fee-free for you and the church. Simply fill out the accompanying ACH form and send it in to the church office along with a voided check. You can mail it to Aledo UMC, PO Box 126, Aledo, TX 76008.
Or you can text "aledoumc" to 77977. This will connect you to a service called PushPay, which will allow you to give electronically to the church using either a credit card or debit card. You will receive a text back with instructions guiding you through setting up your gift. You can give either a one-time gift or set up weekly or monthly giving through PushPay.
