Two Hour Delay on Friday, 2/25
With school boundaries as large as ours, we must take several factors into consideration when making the decision to delay the start of school or close the campus. The safety of our students, their parents, and our staff is of utmost concern to us. In general, we look to our neighboring districts and the districts from which most of our students come (Lewisville ISD, Plano ISD, and Frisco ISD) to determine whether or not enough of our students would be able to make it to school safely to justify opening the campus. We must also consider whether enough of our staff would be able to reach school safely and whether or not their children's day cares are open. Taking all of these things into consideration, we have decided the safest option for tomorrow is to have a two hour delay. Doors will open at 9:40, and school will begin at 10:00 AM.

This information was posted on Bloomz earlier this evening. If you are not receiving the Bloomz messages, please see below for the code to join the main Trivium Bloomz page and be sure to check your notifications settings. We also post any delayed start/closing information on our Facebook and Instagram pages and on our school website.

We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! Drive safely!

Save the Date: Trivium Golf Tournament!
We have started our push for our 4th Annual Golf Tournament. I always get a lot of questions from parents about how they can help if they are not golfers. We are hoping to have 100 golfers again this year, but another great way to help us is to sponsor a hole. You can sponsor a hole if you are a family or a business. Your name or business will be proudly displayed on one of the tournament tee boxes at the tournament and we thank you on social media. This will also enable you to add any type of ad specialty item or sales brochure to be placed in all of the player bags that go out. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at cynthia.zea@triviumacademytx.com.
COVID-19 Updates
We continue to implement the same precautions that we've been maintaining for almost 2 years now. We are sanitizing, handwashing, encouraging social distancing, and notifying parents of close contacts. We do encourage mask wearing during any spike to slow the spread.

While the Texas Education Agency has released new quarantine guidance for school staff who have COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone who does, there is no change to the quarantine period for students at this time. The quarantine period for students remains at 10 days following the Texas Department of State Health Services which schools must follow. TEA Commissioner Mike Morath said districts should expect updates to the student part of the quarantine guidance, but to date, no changes have been made. We will keep you posted if anything does change.
Attendance Reminders
To report an absence please email a parent note or medical excuse for each absence to attendance@triviumacademytx.com. Include the student’s name, grade, and homeroom teacher.  You may attach doctor’s notes to the email or turn them in to the front office. After three parent notes, our school policy requires a medical note to excuse an absence.

Elementary (K-6th) Attendance is taken daily at 9:20am.

Secondary (7-11) Attendance is taken at the beginning of each class period. Official attendance for the day is taken at 9:30.

If your student is marked absent an auto generated email is sent to the parent if that option has been selected in the Parent Portal. These emails will always state that the absence is unexcused. Also, students who are quarantining due to COVID-19 will be marked absent by the homeroom teacher. The attendance office will later code the absence appropriately based on the documentation received.

As a public school, we must follow Texas Education Code (TEC) 25.092 which states that a student may not be given credit for a class unless the student is in attendance for at least 90% of the days the class is offered. That means a student may only be absent seven times in the fall semester and nine times in the spring semester to retain credit for the grade level. If your child has absences beyond those numbers, you may be asked to appear before the attendance committee. The attendance committee may give class credit to a student who is in attendance less than the number of days required because of extenuating circumstances.

We take the responsibility of educating our students seriously, and excessive absences can hinder a student’s progress and the school’s ability to provide for his/her educational needs. We do understand that children get ill, and we certainly understand when they are too sick to come to school. We appreciate your help in making sure your child is present for school at all other times.
