It's Time for

Something

Warm!

Does Fall make you think of warming soups and everything pumpkin? Or perhaps you're prepping for the upcoming holidays? Cary Library is an incredible resource for foodies - and really anyone who cooks.

Recipes Galore!

With over 2,800 cookbooks, Cary Library’s collection offers something for everyone. Moreover, staff keep up to date with popular authors and bloggers, adding approximately 250 new cookbooks each year. Cary Librarians Jenn Webb and Amy Newmark lead the choice of books.

Jenn and Amy stay attuned to our community’s diverse population; Indian, Chinese, Korean and other Asian cookbooks are especially in demand. Recent cookbook trends emphasize world cuisines, including a surging interest in African-American and traditional Jewish cooking. Many cookbooks now combine recipes with particulars about the chef, region, or historical context of a cuisine.

Not Just for Grown-ups!

Starting with our youngest preschool-aged chefs, Cary provides a fantastic range of cooking classes; both in-person and hybrid. Partnering with Kids Cooking Green, Cary Library offers Pumpkin Whoopie Pies for grades 3-5, and Make and Take Tiny Apple Pies (inspired by famous chef Alice Waters!) for grades K-2. Cary provides families with all the ingredients needed to create these yummy treats at home with an adult.
