Five facts about how maritime strengthens our regional resiliency
  1. Did you know the Port of Redwood City is FEMA designated as a Federal Staging Area (FSA) for the South San Francisco Bay region?
  2. Did you know one of the wharves at the Port of Redwood City can accommodate a three to five feet sea level rise as well as an 8.9 magnitude earthquake?
  3. Did you know our Port's FSA provides for the delivery of emergency supplies and transports vital responders via water during an emergency?
  4. Did you know a ferry would become part of our FSA response if land routes are damaged in a disaster, enabling responders to provide food and water to affected areas, move emergency personnel and transport supplies?
  5. Did you know the Port of Redwood City has secured nearly $5 million in Department of Homeland Security federal grants to advance our security infrastructure?

The Port of Redwood City is situated perfectly to keep the movement of goods, people and emergency resources flowing in the South Bay Area during an emergency. We are honored to work with federal, state and local partners on safety and security.

Redwood City Ferry Terminal project gains recognition
The Redwood City Ferry Terminal project marked a significant milestone with the acceptance of its business plan this month. The Redwood City Ferry Terminal will provide a new transportation alternative connecting the mid-peninsula to San Francisco and the East Bay and reduce automobile traffic. The project will also enhance emergency preparedness for the movement of first responders and resources by water after a catastrophic event.

To learn more about the Redwood City Ferry Terminal Project, visit the Port’s website or watch KTVU’s news segment.
