$128,000 AWARDED TO ARTISTS AND ARTS ORGANIZATIONS BY OC ARTS AND CULTURE RESILIENCE FUND
The OC Arts and Culture Resilience Fund has awarded a second round of relief to individual Orange County artists and nonprofit arts organizations, bringing its total distribution from private contributions to more than $158,000. A total of 70 artists have received assistance and grants were made to 19 nonprofit arts organizations. The Fund was launched last month by Orange County's nonprofit arts council, Arts Orange County (ArtsOC), in partnership with Charitable Ventures and the Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF) to support creative artists and local nonprofit arts and culture organizations as they face significant challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The OC Arts and Culture Resilience Fund continues to accept donations to enable it to meet the needs of more individual artists and the local arts organizations that hire them. Community members are encouraged to donate here
CITY OF SANTA ANA ARTS RELIEF FUND LAUNCHES, MANAGED BY OC ARTS AND CULTURE RESILIENCE FUND 
 
The City of Santa Ana has announced a $500,000 COVID-19 Arts Relief Fund that will assist individual artists and nonprofit arts-related organizations within the City of Santa Ana. Applications have now opened here. The program is being managed by OC Arts and Culture Resilience Fund with CARES Act funds from the City of Santa Ana. ORANGE COUNTY DISTRICT 2 NONPROFIT GRANT PROGRAM
District 2 Orange County Supervisor Michelle Steel has established a nonprofit grant program for COVID-19 relief from CARES Act funds. The objective of this program is to offer financial assistance to nonprofit entities dedicated to serving the needs of children. One-time grants will be awarded to eligible Nonprofits up to a maximum of $45,000 based on the need and size of the organization and the availability of grant monies. Download application & instructions here. DEADLINE IS AUGUST 28 AT 5 PM. Eligibility limited to organizations located in District 2: the cities of Costa Mesa, Cypress, Huntington Beach, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, Seal Beach, Stanton, the unincorporated area of Rossmoor, and portions of Buena Park and Fountain Valley.

Arts Orange County has elected two new members to its Board of Directors (view the full list of Board members here):
 
TINA VAN DAM is Managing Attorney, Manning Gross + Massenburg in Irvine, where she is an Equity Partner responsible for regional Irvine office of this Boston-based national law firm. Born in South Africa, she came here at a young age and has lived in Orange County ever since, receiving her Bachelor's Degree at University of California, Irvine, and her Law Degree (Cum Laude) at Whittier College Law School. She lives in Laguna Hills with her husband, a corporate attorney, and their son, a sophomore at Laguna Hills High School who is a "dedicated member of the Theatre Department." 
 
EDMUND VELASCO is President of the Orange County Musicians Union (Local 7, American Federation of Musicians), and has served on its Executive Board since 2003. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Californians for the Arts and California Arts Advocates. A native Southern Californian, he began playing saxophone at age 8 and has become recognized as one of the top saxophonists in the region. Edmund can be seen as a featured soloist with The Estrada Brothers Latin Jazz Ensemble and has recorded with the group. He is a member of the Chris Williams Quintet and has made many guest appearances with Dan Fanley, Joe LaBarbera, Tony Dumas and Ron Escheté, among others. He has also played professionally with such top names as Mel Tormé, Eddie Daniels and Ernie Andrews, to name a few. Edmund leads, directs and writes for his own quintet.
