Recent faculty and student COVID-19 surveys revealed that a top concern expressed by students was related to stress and anxiety. We understand that many of our students may be experiencing difficult situations at home, work, or at school. It has been and always will be a priority at GSC to provide our students with the best support system possible.

To ensure that our students are provided the best opportunity to learn and succeed, Granite State College has worked to create access to multiple support services which include:

  • Academic Advising – Students can work with their assigned advisor to create plans for their future learning and career goals. Academic Advisors help with course selection, academic planning, career guidance, professional and personal goal building, decision-making skills, and more!
  • Counseling Services – Free confidential counseling is available to all students 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students are eligible for six free counseling sessions and can speak with a professional by phone or receive a referral to a local counselor at no cost.
  • Disability Services – GSC is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to ensure students equal access to our program and activities. If a student has a documented disability you can them to the Office of Disability Services.
  • Student Affairs – The Office of Student Affairs is responsible for student engagement, student conduct, community standards, and disability services. Please refer students to Tiffany Doherty for any of the above-mentioned items.
  • Tutoring Services – Students are provided free access to tutoring, available online, or by appointment at each GSC campus. Online tutoring through Brainfuse is also available to students for up to 8 hours free each month. Brainfuse Online Tutoring can be accessed from a student’s Moodle account.

For those of us teaching this term, the following paragraph may be helpful to include in an upcoming forum announcement:

"We understand that this unprecedented time may be causing stress and anxiety for many within our community. If you require counseling or mental health services, please know that there are resources available. All Granite State College students have access to free confidential counseling services 24 hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week." https://www.granite.edu/current-students/advising-support/counseling-services/

Thank you for considering sharing this reminder with our learners!
