Ohio State graduate students, Luana Lamberti (SPPO) and Shawn Barreiro (Linguistics), will be featured in a series of short videos as part of COSI's Digital Cuba Exhibit. These videos explore the Spanish language and are meant for a broad Spanish-speaking audience. |

NSEP Boren Scholarship Info Session

An information session for the NSEP Boren 2021-2022 Scholarship season will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 from 3:30-4:30pm via Zoom.
Learn about the wonderful opportunities to study abroad if you are interested in pursuing a government career. Boren Scholars and Fellows study a wide range of critical languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese, and Swahili. Boren Awards are available to students of all proficiency levels who are committed to enhancing their skills. Boren will award up to $20,000 per undergraduate student for one academic year of study abroad! $24,000 for graduate fellows!

Critical Language Scholarship 2021 Application Now Open!
|
Applications are now being accepted for the U.S. Department of State’s Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program for intensive language study abroad in summer 2021. The CLS Program is a fully-funded intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at U.S. colleges and universities. Students spend eight to ten weeks abroad studying one of 15 critical languages, Portuguese included. Applications are due Tuesday, November 17, 2020 by 8:00pm EST.

CLAS Curriculum Development Grants
|
CLAS has opened a call for curriculum development proposals about topics related to Latin America from current faculty affiliates. If you are interested in submitting a grant proposal, please see the details below.
As part of its Title VI Comprehensive National Resource Center funding from the International and Foreign Language Education division of the U.S. Department of Education, the Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) seeks proposals for Curriculum Development Grants, which are available to any Ohio State faculty affiliate who wishes to apply for funding to create new courses at Ohio State with an emphasis on Latin America, or design curricular modules to be used as a resource for K12 students or for instructors at the K12 or community college level.
Up to $2,000 is available for curricular modules and up to $3,000 is available for new course development. Funds can be used to support faculty supplemental compensation, hire graduate/undergraduate student assistants, and purchase materials as a research supplement.
The deadline to submit a proposal has been extended to September 15, 2020.
