Special Council Meeting on July 6: Halton Region is Planning for Growth
In response to the Provincial Growth Plan that requires Halton to plan for 1.1 million people and 500,000 jobs by 2051, the Region has developed five different growth concepts for how and where Halton could grow over the next 30 years.

The growth concepts also outline potential population and job growth distribution within the Region’s four municipalities, including Halton Hills.

The Town is providing two opportunities for residents to give feedback and ask questions about the Growth Concepts. The first session took place on June 21 and a second meeting is scheduled for July 6, 2021.

To participate, register as a delegate: fill out the application to appear before Council.

Deadline to register is July 5 at 4:30 p.m. for the July 6 Special Council Meeting. Comments may also be submitted in advance of the meeting. Submit a comment which will be circulated to Town Council and become part of the public record.

Green Development Standards Updates
On June 14 Halton Hills Council adopted Version 3 of the Town of Halton Hills Green
Development Standards (GDS) applicable to all developments and major additions subject to an Official Plan and/or Zoning By-law Amendment, Draft Plan of Subdivision, or Site Plan Control approval.

The GDS v3 builds on Halton Hills' record of success with climate change initiatives and brings the standards into greater alignment with current best practices and the Town's Climate Emergency Declaration. This policy is an important step in the fight against climate change.
Hungry Hollow Trail - Acquisition of Easement/License
The Hungry Hollow Management Plan (March 2004) is a guiding document for five key areas: resource management, trail development, permitted uses, monitoring plans, and implementation strategies. Read the Hungry Hollow Trail Expansion Phase1 report.

Based on the Management Plan, a network of over 5.5km of trail has been constructed since 2007 within the Hungry Hollow Ravine, extending from Hall Road to West Branch Drive Park.

The masterplan for the Hungry Hollow Trail system proposes an additional 1.7km of trails continuing from West Branch Drive Park to Main Street, Cedarvale Park and further north to downtown Georgetown. Cedarvale Park is a key location within the trail network and would act as a formal trailhead destination (parking, information kiosk signage, park amenities).

Currently the Hungry Hollow trail lacks a destination trailhead and is accessed by neighbourhood/local access points with on street parking.

Upper Canada College Trail: License Agreement
Town staff is seeking Council approval to enter into a License Agreement with Upper Canada College as a formal agreement to govern the terms for the development of a public use trail on Upper Canada College lands.
