On May 31st I quoted Peter Marshall's clear call to our elected officials in the 1947 United States Senate to make a decision. Either to turn back to Christ, with conviction, or choose compromise, chaos and disintegration.
As the years have passed it is clear they chose the path of 'compromise.' Like the Israelites after repeated calls from their LORD to turn back to Him, He allowed their enemies to defeat, subjugate, enslave, and disperse them around the world. To this day they are hated and under the constant threat of death.
Is this the legacy Americans want for themselves and their children?
As God raised up Judges and Kings over centuries to lead His people back to Him, what followed time and time again was a period of blessing before they fell away in worship of other gods, the sacrifice of their children to those false gods, moral depravity, and repeated enslavement.
Will that cycle be repeated again in America? Or have we gone too far in killing tens of millions of our unwanted offspring, become morally and fiscally bankrupt, and drugged ourselves into a stupor of stupidity and hopelessness? Will we receive - like Sodom and Gomorrah - sudden catastrophic destruction, or is their yet hope that God will once more stay His hand of Judgement?
This question should be on the minds of all Biblically literate and thoughtful Christians in America, and around the globe. All the world is watching as their last hope of freedom languishes in the grasp of godless Ahabs and Jezebels at all levels of our State and Federal Governments, media, and institutions of 'higher learning'.
As it is often said, 'Time will tell' but in the interim, His followers - those who have sincerely placed their faith in Him - are to "occupy til He Comes," the clear meaning of which is to 'do His business on earth, until He returns'' (Luke 19:13).
And what is that 'business'?
As Peter Marshall said, "The time is come -- it now is -- when we ought to hear about the duties and responsibilities of our citizenship. America's future depends upon her accepting and demonstrating God's government."
'God's government' is what George Washington in his Inaugural Address referred to when he said "the propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained."
It is these 'eternal rules of order and right' that we, our educators, politicians, and elected officials have forgotten, ignored and in most cases simply thrown aside, that has led to our current political, cultural, social, and economic miseries.
Dale Witherington, Restore America's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, in laying out a plan to return America to it's foundational principles under 'God's government', emailed the following to me:
"At a recent Wallbuilders conference for legislators, guest speaker, George Barna laid out the following:
There are approximately 384,000 churches in America.
72% of those 384,000 deny the deity of Jesus and Biblical orthodoxy.

Of the remaining 28% (roughly 107,000 churches), over 90% of the people in those churches are asking their pastors and/or spiritual leaders to assist them with issues of practical Biblical citizenship and the role of the church in government and the culture.

Only 2.8% of those churches are willing to provide that kind of education and equipping.

If the average church size in America is 75, that means over 7.2 million churched Christians are getting no help from their spiritual leaders to equip them in engaging in the cosmic battle that is being carried out in the physical on earth.

In addition, there are 43 million Americans who have given up on the local church and attend house churches instead.
Bottom line: There are roughly 50 million American Christians who are asking for the kind of help Restore America can provide."
