A Note of Thanksgiving from the Director
I hope I can adequately express to you how happy I felt during the welcome reception given for me by the Friends of the Norman Williams Public Library on Monday, November 13th. It was inspiring and uplifting to see the Reading Room filled with such bright energy and beautiful smiles on a dark, wintry afternoon. The room was full of library Friends, as well as members of the NWPL Board of Trustees, our state reps, and lots of folks from the community. I realized as I looked around the room last night that many, if not all of you, are "Library Regulars!" You come to the library to knit, to help decide on art for our gallery walls, to borrow. . .

I.T. Help at Thompson Senior Center
NWPL Information Services Director Dave Sullivan is offering individual help to people desiring assistance with their laptops, tablets, and mobile devices.
Contact the Thompson Senior Center to sign up for a 45-minute slot of time. Bring the device along with you and Dave will work with you to straighten things out and learn about some tools and tricks.
This event is jointly sponsored by the Thompson Senior Center and the NWPL.

If Memory Serves
Art Exhibit on Mezzanine Gallery
Lynda Knisley's years as an Art Educator to learners of every age have resulted in a definition of art-making that is flexible and broad. The intersection of unconventional materials and her responses to Vermont barns and vintage protraits yield "reminders of people and places we know, if only by imagination where clock time cannot intrude."
We find fewer noble barn structures in our landscape and fewer vintage fashion statements packed in attic trunks. To honor them, fragments of text, rusty oddments, and "found materials" make each assemblage unique in availability and style.

Constructing a Crossword Puzzle
Join professional crossword constructor Dave Sullivan for an hour-long hands on workshop in constructing a crossword puzzle.
We'll start with a theme idea, consider possible theme entries and then begin to set them in a grid. We'll discuss constructing software, wordlists and the process of submitting a puzzle to an editor for publication.

New York Times
by editor Will Shortz! OREOS and ADE will again be provided to all attendees.

Howards End was first published in 1910. Accounted by many to be Forster's best book, Howards End concerns social conventions and relationships in turn-of-the-century England. Emma Thompson won an Academy Award for best actor in the 1992 Merchant-Ivory movie adaptation.

This story time features short stories, interspersed with songs and finger plays and runs for about 20 minutes. It is geared for children ages birth to three years.

No Qigong this Saturday
Happy Thanksgiving All!
In Qigong, your awareness is awakened in the first lesson and benefits accrue immediately. When practiced, Qigong helps to reawaken our sense of joy. No equipment needed except one's body.
Gerry Sandweiss has been a student and practitioner Qigong for fifteen years. Classes will be held Saturday mornings at 8:30. Classes held on the NWPL mezzanine - enter through back door of library. Please wear loose clothing and bring a mat and notebook. These classes are suitable for everyone, regardless of age or ability.

NWPL is Open During Stone Work
The library front steps are being restored to their 1883 splendor.
We will be open during the construction and will have access to the front door - via the ramp on the west side of the building. We expect the work to be finished before Thanksgiving. If you have any questions regarding the stonework, please come ask us inside the library. Let us leave the artisans to their creative efforts.

Northern Stage is Sharing with NWPL
Scripts and Vouchers for Tickets
Our friends at Northern Stage in WRJ have donated a copy of each script (and one soundtrack) from their current 20th anniversary season of shows to the NWPL. These scripts and CD have been added to our collection and are available for circulation. The scripts are for
