JOYS AND SORROWS sent to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org for last Sunday, September 20.

From Natalie Becerra-Stasiewicz and Matthew Stasiewicz: Our baby Lavender has arrived! If stats make it real, she came at 10:45 pm on 9/16/2020, 6 lb 13oz and with a *full* head of hair. Mom and baby are both happily recovering, and all are starting to catch some sleep sometimes.

From Jessica Auguston: Blessings for Samson, the bulldog I adopted yesterday. He is a very good boy and I am so glad to have him in my life.

From Gail Cohen: May God's newest angel rest in peace. She will be missed so much and for so many reasons.

From Erin Dittmer: Sorrow that my Grandma Judy passed away on Thursday after a battle with Alzheimer’s. I’m going to miss her terribly. Joy that my mother, aunt and I were able to be at her side every day. Joy for the memories. Joy that my grandma left behind so much beauty for us to remember her by. She was an award-winning quilter with an eye for color and intricate patterns. Every time I cuddle beneath one of her pieces, it will be a warm embrace.

From Chris Hannauer: A joy for the time that Jody and I spent with our son Ben on Friday in Chicago. He just turned 20, and it was joyful to see him happy and comfortable in his independent life.

From A.J. Herzog: Words can't capture how sad I am at RBG's passing. My heart hurts thinking that in her final days she carried the burden of worrying about our future. I pray she found peace at the end. It feels like it's now our job to carry her flame in the fight for justice. Her passing has inspired me to do something everyday to continue this work. Rest in peace, Ruth.

From the Kaiser family: Joy as Beth Simpson celebrated another year of life yesterday. Beth, thanks for your light!

From Umeeta Sadarangani: Deep gratitude for the life and work of our beloved Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Sorrow and worry for our nation in this time of division and pandemic. And gratitude for our UU community, a comfort and inspiration even when we can’t gather together in person.

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service each Sunday. They will be read aloud.
