Children & Communities in Guyana Receive Home Care Kits and Personal Dignity Kits
from Midwest Mission

The children, families and communities in Guyana were so excited to receive Midwest Mission's generous donation of home care and personal dignity kits as you can see by the beautiful, amazing smiles on these children. We are so thankful that Midwest Mission has opportunities like this to serve people around the corner and around the world.

Guyana is a small country (about the size of Idaho) located in northern South America. It is ranked as one of the most impoverished countries in the Western Hemisphere, and 35 percent of all the Guyanese population lives below the poverty line, with indigenous people being disproportionately affected.

Through Midwest Mission's partner, Food For The Poor/Angels of Hope, we are able to serve 9 homes and 189 children through this program. These Home Care Kits and Personal Dignity Kits are so important, especially now, as prices on cleaning and hygiene products have increased due to Covid19. These items help to keep the children's personal hygiene and surroundings clean.

Ahaila K, the administrator at one children's home said, "I would not change any of the items and I really appreciate them, it will go a far way and I would like to see these items be repeated because it is beneficial to the children. The items like toothpaste, shampoo, bath soap, etc. will make the children feel good about themselves because it shows the children that people do care about them."

We are thankful to Food For The Poor/Angels of Hope for their partnership and we are also thankful for all of our mission volunteers who continue to serve and love Midwest the way you do! We certainly could not provide to those who need so much without all of you!

"Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work" [2 Corinthians 9:6-8]

THE NOMADS PAVE AND LAY THE BRICKS IN FRONT OF MIDWEST MISSION
The Nomads are serving on the campus of Midwest Mission from July 12th through July 30th and we can't say thank you enough to this group! One of their main projects on the Midwest Mission campus this summer is laying all the bricks that were engraved and purchased through our Brick by Brick Campaigns over the years.

Because of your generous gifts to the Brick by Brick Campaign last year, Midwest Mission was able to build a much-needed office addition and upgrade lighting on the entire campus. The addition provided five offices, a conference room, and a supply area. As Midwest Mission continues to grow, we have added staff to handle the increase in donations and demand for supplies.

During our office construction project, all of the bricks were dug up and saved so that they could be re-set once the construction project was completed. They are now located along the front of the building as you go into the main entrance.

The 2021 Brick by Brick Campaign began in May and we have raised more than $18,000, and we are so thankful to announce that we will now be able to put heaters in the third warehouse, Praise God! Right now, there is no heat in the third warehouse so, as you can imagine, it can get pretty cool in there in the fall, spring and winter which makes it uncomfortable for our mission volunteers. Thank you so much to all our wonderful, generous donors!

Besides heating the third warehouse, Midwest Mission is also trying to raise donations to oil & chip the driveway in order to ensure the safety of our mission volunteers when walking on campus and to eliminate potholes and standing water. We are asking for $30,000 in donations to bring in more rock and to oil and chip the driveway that will provide a wearable surface at a fraction of the cost of other options.

If you are interested in making a donation please head to: https://www.midwestmission.org/donate/brick-by-brick

Every dollar helps pave the future!
Austin Miller - Summer Intern
Going Back to Seminary School
Austin Miller has spent the Summer of 2021 interning at Midwest Mission. He worked with groups, mainly youth groups, and led Devotionals along with other projects he was assigned.

Austin will begin his last year at Candler Seminary School in Atlanta GA in mid August and will hopefully be ordained in the IGRC and bring many groups back to Midwest Mission!

We wish you the very best Austin and pray that all your dreams come true! We will miss seeing you everyday!

Austin left us a suggestion to reflect and pray on; "How do we get young people into church?" The answer is to realize that church is not worship service. Worship service is the celebration of living the Christian life. Missions is the core of the Christian life and should be the priority of any church, especially one that seeks to encourage young people to join it. We serve so that we have something to celebrate on Sunday.
