Oktoberfest in Downtown Abilene
Join in the fun at the 4th annual Abilene Oktoberfest on Saturday, September 25. The event begins at 4 pm with the tapping of the keg. Enjoy German food, bier, dancers, activities for kids, and more!

The Lindsborg-based toy store, Trollslända, will open a pop-up store in downtown Abilene on Saturday, September 25 from 10 am to 6 pm at 109 NW 3rd Street (former Steinhauser Hallmark store).

Trollslända is a creative, Scandinavian-inspired toy boutique that provides unique, quality, toys for children, to inspire creative play.

Trollslända (pronounced trolls LAND ah) means "dragonfly" in Swedish.
Trollslända features many of the same toys that are found in toy stores in Scandinavia. We specialize in quality toys, and are especially dedicated to wooden toys from Scandinavia and Germany. Our Americana toys include tin robots and wonderfully cuddly stuffed animals.

Dinner Trains
The Abilene & Smoky Valley Railroad is adding two additional fall dinner trains.

Saturday, October 16 - 6 pm departure featuring Lucinda's Katering serving a roast beef dinner.

Saturday, October 23 - 6 pm departure featuring Amanda's Bakery & Bistro serving pork loin in raspberry chipotle sauce.

Must have advance reservations. Tickets are $55 per person and include tax and gratuity.

Abilene Oktoberfest
Abilene Oktoberfest is celebrating its 4th Annual event! Come and experience some German entertainment including authentic dancers, tasty food, German-themed music by DJ's DeeJays, crafts, and, of course, bier from KC BIER Company. They will also have bouncy houses and games for the kids! This event will be held in Abilene, KS, so please come early and visit our downtown shops and take in all our wonderful small town has to offer. Learn more

There will be steam carousel rides, antique agriculture demonstration, cookstove, other prairie home demonstrations, car show, tractor show, arts/craft, farmer market vendors, food vendors, and train rides( extra cost for train rides)

Wild West Gravel Fest
In its second year, this premier gravel ride attracts riders from across the country! The Wild West Gravel Fest is a gravel bike race in Dickinson County, KS. With races ranging from 200k to 5k, Wild West Gravel Fest appeals to racers who are new to gravel and those who dare to push themselves to the extreme. And make sure to stick around for the after-party at Old Abilene Town.

Impact the Cure
Impact the Cure is an annual Breast Cancer Awareness 5K Run and 2-Mile Fun Walk in downtown Abilene hosted by Impact Sports and Fitness, 418 N. Broadway, Abilene. The race will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, starting at Impact Sports and Fitness, and is open to people of all ages and fitness levels.

I had a great time. Went to the extra expense of the engine cab ride. The people were friendly and extremely helpful. I look forward to going again. I live in Louisiana and will do this trip again.
