Pre-Application Meeting Scheduled for Avere on Forest Development
REVA Development Partners are seeking informal feedback from the Village's Plan Commission at the September 23, 7 p.m. meeting. The proposed project is a four-story multi-family development on the US Bank site (453 Forest Avenue) and the adjacent property to its east (576-580 Duane Street).

The pre-application meeting, to be held in person at the Civic Center, 535 Duane Street, will give the developer an opportunity to hear from the Plan Commission and the public prior to fully designing their plans for the site. At the Monday, September 20, 2021 Village Board Workshop meeting, the Village Board and public provided preliminary feedback on the project design, architecture, traffic flow, and the proposed public and private amenities, among other items.

The project features a unique residential rental product with a combination of townhome units and apartments. Some of the amenities of the 77-unit building include two residential terraces, on-site storage, a fitness room, club room and enclosed parking. REVA Development Partners recently completed a multi-family development project, Avere on Duane, located on Duane Street between Prospect Avenue and Melrose Avenue, across from the Glen Ellyn Public Library.

The Plan Commission packet of plans and documents submitted by the developer are available for public view within the September 23 Plan Commission agenda packet on the Village's website.
Village Fire Hydrant Painting to Begin Next Week
Beginning on Monday, September 27, a contractor for the Village will be painting fire hydrants throughout Glen Ellyn. This involves sandblasting the hydrants down to bare metal and applying a primer. After the primer sets for a couple of days, the hydrants are then given two new coats of paint.

The hydrants were assessed during the annual spring flushing, see the overview map below for reference. The assessment looked at the current conditions and prioritized the 200 hydrants that will be painted this year, based on issues like fading, flaking paint or rusting of the metal.

Work will be performed during normal construction hours, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The work is weather dependent, but the project is expected to be completed in two to three weeks. Any questions or concerns can be directed to Public Works (630) 469-6756.

COVID-19 News and Updates
Illinois Department of Public Health Launches Online 'Vax Verify' System
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is launching a new immunization portal, Vax Verify, that will allow Illinois residents 18 years and older to check their COVID-19 vaccination record. Vax Verify can be accessed at https://idphportal.illinois.gov.

The verification system follows best practices to protect confidential health information. In order to download proof of vaccination, residents will go through a brief, one-time identity verification process to gain access to their immunization history.

After the verification process, individuals can see their own record in the Illinois Comprehensive Automated Immunization Registry Exchange (I-CARE).

Immunization records are kept confidential and only the individual can access their vaccination history. Parents should talk with their child’s provider to confirm their vaccination status. Some individuals with very common names will need to take additional steps to securely prove their identities.
Care Van Scheduled to Travel to Glen Ellyn
The DuPage County Health Department Care Van will make stops in various locations across the County in the upcoming months. The van will be in Glen Ellyn on the following dates:

The Care Van will offer either the Pfizer vaccine which requires two doses 21 days apart or the single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Please note that anyone under 18 years old must have a parent or legal guardian accompany them.

What you should know about the COVID-19 vaccination:
  • You will need to sit in observation for at least 15 minutes and possibly up to 30 minutes based on clinical history.
  • You will need to keep the vaccination card with the date of your first dose on it. If you get the Pfizer vaccine, you will need to get a second dose AT LEAST 21 days from your first dose. If you get the Johnson & Johnson, you will only need one dose.
  • You are not considered “fully” vaccinated until 2 weeks after your final dose of vaccine.
