NYC Travel Club trip promises to be educational and inspiring.
Kate Collom from Language Trainers, says "Some cities are like snow globes. They seem to hold an entire world in their midst". They rank New York City #1 among multicultural cities around the world. In NYC, one can hear 800+ languages spoken and smell ethnic foods in the air. Plus, 35% of the residents were born outside of the U.S. so it is a special place for diversity, inclusion, and creativity.

The DCIS Baker Travel Club made up of middle schoolers, meets weekly in the Melanie Grant Travel Center to talk about their travel aspirations. According to Assistant Principal/Travel Coordinator Courtney Wickham, "This group of go-getters, are working on their trip to NYC in April 2023. They made the decision on the destination and are planning the basic itinerary. Of course, DCIS Foundation wants to help them get there. CLICK HERE to contribute during our Year-End Campaign.
Science + Culture = Paris Eduicational Trip. A Game Changer.
Educators Ms. Trista Fussner, a DCIS Science Teacher, and Ms. Katherine Clurman, a DCIS English Teacher are organizing all the logistics for a trip to Paris so students can experience a new culture through a medical science lens. They will go to the Museum of the History of Medicinethe City Science Museum, the Gallery of Evolution, the Notre Dame Archeological Museum, and a tour of iconic spots in and around Paris (Musee D-Orsay, Eiffel Tower, Arch de Triomphe, Champs-Elysees, etc.) Many warm crepes will be consumed along the way. Students who have taken French will also be practicing their language skills. Ms. Fussner speaks French as well.

According to Ms. Fussner, "The trip started as an exploration of the home of modern medicine for my Health and Medical Sciences. I then saw the opportunity to blend everything together into a single trip concept. The Health Medical class has been learning about various careers in the health field as well as practicing skills needed for those careers. In January, the students will be practicing medical examiner skills by identifying the cause of death of a fetal pig. The science trip to Paris will augment all of their learning experiences."

DCIS Foundation wants to help get them there. Will you join us? CLICK HERE to contribute during our Year-End Campaign.
Grant applications were also received on the DCIS Foundational application portal for overnight and day-trip excursions for our youngest global citizens at DCIS Fairmont.
