Marquette Catholic High School will operate under new leadership to open the 2021 calendar year.
Principal Allyson Headd, who has guided Northwest Indiana's premier Catholic high school since April 2018, following a six-year stint as social studies teacher then vice principal, will leave Marquette at the conclusion of the fall semester. Headd, who was responsible for spearheading the school's Apple technology initiative among other efforts, has accepted a principal position closer to her family and hometown.
"I'd like to thank the staff, students, and Marquette family for all their support and guidance these last nine years. I am excited to work with Casey and Katie to continue the tradition of excellence at Marquette," Headd said.

Social studies teacher and head baseball coach Casey Martin will take over as interim principal effective January 4th, 2021. Katie Collignon's role will expand to vice principal/director of athletics.
Dr. Joseph J. Majchrowicz, superintendent of schools for the Catholic Diocese of Gary, lauded Headd for her contributions to the Marquette community and expressed eager optimism for the school's future.
"I wish Allyson all the very best at her new school. She led Marquette Catholic with a clearheaded vision, uncompromising ethics, and an innovative approach to education that will undoubtedly serve her future institution very well. I look forward to the next chapter for our students and families at Marquette," Majchrowicz said.

Martin, a Chesterton native, earned his master's degree from Purdue University this past May. He began working toward obtaining his administrative license immediately thereafter.
"It's a privilege to have time to work with Allyson and the transition team to ensure the continued success of Marquette Catholic. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have a wider influence on our outstanding teachers and students," Martin said.
Martin received his B.A. in history and computer applications from the University of Notre Dame in 2010. The former Fighting Irish slugger has served as history instructor and baseball coach at Marquette Catholic since August of 2015. During his tenure, Martin taught English at a partner school in Beijing, China for six months.
Martin will work with Headd, Collignon, and the board in all transition efforts.
