The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), sponsor of Fire Prevention week, will focus its education messages on kitchen safety this year, as home cooking fires represent the leading cause of U.S. home fires. Nearly half (49%) of all home fires involve cooking equipment, with unattended cooking as the leading cause of these fires.

Stay tuned!  Concord Fire will be serving up some important fire prevention messages this fall during Fire Prevention Week, October 4-10. In the meantime, visit http://www.sparky.org/ for some fire safety games, stories and activities for you and your family.
As the middle of summer approaches, the Concord Township Service Department continues to work on improving the roadways throughout the Township. Concrete slab replacement continues on our concrete roads. Crack sealing of both asphalt and concrete prolongs the life of the pavement and prevents premature deterioration. Dura Patching areas that have minor deterioration helps extend the life of the roadway. Drainage easement and ditch maintenance to keep storm water flowing through the Township is ongoing.

The Service Department personnel are pleased to announce the completion of our new Salt Dome structure. Our personnel did all site work, poured the concrete pad, and set the concrete block foundation.

The Yard Waste Dumpster located at the Service Department, continues to get steady use by the residents of Concord Township. Yard Waste can be dropped off in the dumpster Monday thru Friday from 7:30am- 2:30pm. All yard waste shall be in biodegradable paper bags and consist of leaves, grass clippings, small twigs, and weeds. The Service Department reminds residents that no plastic bags or large brush is permitted.

The Service Department wishes the residents of Concord a safe and healthy rest of your summer. The Service Department is available Monday thru Friday from 7:00am-3:30pm, residents with questions or concerns may contact us at 440-350-3225 or through the website at www.concordtwp.com .

DID YOU KNOW:

• All plantings in the cemetery must be approved by the Cemetery Sexton.

• Concord Township reserves the right to maintain plantings, which may include trimming or removal if deemed necessary and will not be replaced.

• Cemetery approved plantings are to be located in front of your marker; anything outside of your lot (behind a monument or in some cases the side) belongs to someone else. Plantings should not impede the ability to get equipment through.

• Perennials are to be maintained yearly:
  • If the perennial is a spring or early-summer bloomer, divide in the fall.
  • If the perennial blooms in the late summer or fall, divide in the spring.

• We do not recommend you place sentimental items on the graves as they may get lost, stolen or damaged.

For more information visit our website or call the Cemetery Office at 440-354-7518 with your questions.
