‘Bionic’ gloves allow pianist to play again


Pianist João Carlos Martins noticed that the fingers in his right hand would curl involuntarily after a few hours of practice. He soon discovered he suffered from focal dystonia. In 2020, he was gifted a pair of “bionic” extender gloves that allowed him to play the piano for the first time in two decades.
