Dear Residents -
Yesterday I joined Assemblyman Michael Lawler, County Executive Ed Day, members of Law Enforcement and Councilmen Tom Diviny, Denis Troy and Jerry Bottari, to denounce the parole of Robert McCain. McCain, along with Richard LaBarbara, was convicted of murdering 16-year-old Paula Bohovesky in October of 1980. They both received 25 years to life and Paula's family and friends have been fighting their parole for the past 15 years. Unfortunately for Mrs. Bohovesky and the entire community, the New York State Parole Board approved the release of these murderers back into society. Speaking not as Town Supervisor, but as a mother, I cannot begin to fathom the pain that Mrs. Bohovesky suffered through in 1980, and is now being forced to relive it again. This brutal crime against a child should result in nothing less than life without parole – ever.
On a less serious note, looking for something fun to do close to home on Saturday, July 24th. Join me at the Palisades Credit Union Park (aka Boulders Stadium) to help celebrate Orangetown/Irish Heritage Day. And for your viewing pleasure, I will be throwing out the first pitch! You can purchase reduced priced tickets by clicking here.
If baseball is not your thing, just remember, our Parks Department has Wednesday night movies and Friday night concerts (please see below for further information).
Lastly, congratulations to Tyler Dietze and Adam Garvey, both of Troop 78 in Nanuet, who have earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
Regards,
