Bishop Palmer's email address

Bishop Gregory V. Palmer has established an IGRC email address that will assist him for the remainder of the year as he serves as interim bishop of the Illinois Area.

Bishop Palmer can be reached at: bishop.palmer@igrc.org He has requested that matters related to the IGRC address use this email address instead of his email address in West Ohio. This will allow his work to be organized and have a better workflow.

Congregational Development Summer Series

Summer can be a time of rest, renewal and planning. This year's rhythm is all shook up. Are you thinking about trying different things this Fall?  Join Mike Crawford and Amy Shreve for conversations this afternoon in our Summer Series to relaunch in person and continue connecting online.

Utilizing Facebook for Ministry - Tuesday, July 13, 1-2pm
Move beyond using Facebook as the church’s front porch and create space for meaningful connection and discipleship.  Nona Jones piqued our interest with “From Social Media to Social Ministry” and now we’ll hear from others that have navigated groups, set up learning modules, and share nuts and bolts of how to.
Mike Crawford and Amy Shreve will lead the conversation with your help. Bring your questions and a tip to share with others.
Sunday's sermon for Monday's world

Our world needs the love and inclusive justice of Christ in this season of reckoning, grief, and healing. This seminar will offer opportunities for reflection and practical preaching tools on how to expand the reach of the good news by equipping Christians for creative witness in the midst of their everyday lives.

United Theological Seminary will be welcoming Dr. Sally A. Brown, author of Sunday's Sermon for Monday's World, as featured presenter for the 2021 Summer Preaching Seminar Aug. 11-13. A PCUSA minister, professor, and author, Dr. Brown spent 22 years in parish and non-parish ministries before beginning her teaching career in 1998.

She has written four books and contributed to numerous lectionary resources, articles and book chapters on subjects in homiletical theory and hermeneutics.

Online certification classes

The Institute for Discipleship at Southwestern University is here to help in an affordable and convenient way. We offer several certifications based on GBHEM education requirements, as well as other leadership courses. It would be my joy to share these with you.

There are five practical ministry certifications that are starting on Aug.23, which are designed to give laity in the Church affordable and accessible foundations for ministry. Certifications are available in Spiritual Formation, Missions, Rural Ministry, Women’s Ministry, and Christian Care and Counseling.

Each certification consists of four online courses, each just $125. Students receive over 20 weeks of high-quality, small-group instruction for a total of $500. The certifications are split evenly between Biblical and theological instruction and practical, on-the-ground skills.

A United Methodist emphasis can be added to any certification with one additional course in United Methodist Studies.
Mission u 2021 registration closes Thursday

Because of constraints forced by Covid-19, this year's United Methodist Women's Mission u will be virtual.

In an effort to make the studies as stress free as possible for the participants, the format will consist of three pre-recorded sessions to be viewed at your convenience between July 1 and the closing live session listed below. Each study will offer a choice of two times to attend a live, interactive (virtual) session to give participants opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion.

You can access the entire program from your own home or district to view the segments together if permitted by state gathering guidelines at the time. Check with your local or district president if you need to meet outside your home.
