In-person and Online at 10 AM

with Rev. Jim Ewing

Our final week of sermon series

"Platitudes of Faith."

Our sermon today is

"God Won't Give You More Than You Can Handle."

Scripture Readings:

Psalm 46: 1 - 7 NIV

Romans 8: 31 - 35a

Psalm 46: 1-7 NIV

For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to alamoth.[b] A song.

1 God is our refuge and strength,

  an ever-present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way

  and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

3 though its waters roar and foam

  and the mountains quake with their surging.[c]

4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,

  the holy place where the Most High dwells.

5 God is within her, she will not fall;

  God will help her at break of day.

6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;

  he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

7 The Lord Almighty is with us;

  the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Romans 8: 31-35a

31 What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?

32 He who did not withhold his own Son but gave him up for all of us, how will he not with him also give us everything else?

33 Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

34 Who is to condemn? It is Christ who died, or rather, who was raised, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ?
