Give to CFDRR

Moving Forward, Giving Back

Happy National Community Foundation Week!

To date, The Foundation has received $25,530 in gifts toward its 26th year Quality of Life Annual Appeal goal of raising $26,000 by December 31, 2022! These gifts are strengthening several of The Foundation's funds, especially the Arts and Cultural Fund and the Unrestricted Community Fund.

Please help us surpass this goal by donating in honor of National Community Foundation Week and your local foundation, The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region! Designate your gift for a fund of your choice, and note that you would like your gift to count towards the CFDRR's Annual Appeal fundraising goal. To learn more about the 26th year Quality of Life Annual Appeal's focus areas, visit our website.

Final Grant Reports Due

The Competitive Grant Cycle Final Grant Report Forms, together with the supporting financial documents, are due by Friday, December 16, 2022 at 5:00 p.m.

We welcome stories and photos that help us show donors how their generous donations improve the quality of life in the region.

CFDRR Celebrates its Community of Donors

The Community Foundation celebrated many of its donors on November 10th during its annual Donor Appreciation Luncheon. During the luncheon, the donors awarded Smokestack Theatre Company a $3,000 grant and the Pittsylvania Historical Society a $2,000 grant as part of a pop-up giving circle demonstration. A pop-up giving circle is a short, interactive experience that enables a reflective and intentional group to discuss and make a collective gift in a brief period of time.

The Foundation sincerely appreciates the sponsors who made the event possible. We are most grateful for The Foundation's donors who continuously make a difference through their legacies of changing lives. Thank you to all who joined us in celebrating last Thursday!

Daly Trust Announces Grant Awards

The Philip N. Daly, Sr. and Frances K. Daly Trust is proud to announce new grants of $948,260.31, with over $500,000 granted to more than 25 nonprofit Danville area community agencies. The Daly Trust was formed in 2009 and has returned more than $7.7 million in grants to nonprofit organizations in Virginia and North Carolina.

The Trust was established through the estate of Philip N. Daly, Sr. and Frances K. Daly as a way to continue the family’s legacy of giving back to the Danville community.

The Trust allows for each Trustee to direct a portion of the money on their own to charities locally and in the North Carolina area, including Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Greensboro and Winston-Salem, as well as Lynchburg, Virginia.

The Daly Trust contracts with The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region for oversight with its Danville-area grant making. The process invites annual grant applications from a preapproved list of Danville area community agencies.
