New OMB Information for Researchers
On Thursday, June 18, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) posted a memo: Extension of Administrative Relief for Recipients and Applicants of Federal Financial Assistance Directly Impacted by the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) due to Loss of Operation . The memo extends the allowability of salary on federal grants to Sept. 30, 2020.
Research Restarting Plans
Each principal investigator will be expected to submit a plan for resuming research in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the document Restarting Research Activities at Georgetown: a phased approach ,” shared with the research community on June 11. This plan should be submitted using the GMS portal available soon. See this link to view draft questions to help prepare a plan. When the online form in GMS is completed, it will be submitted to your department chair. Final approval of plans will be made by the dean, in consultation with the chair and others. Please note — approval of a research resumption plan does not constitute permission to restart or increase research activities until formal DC government approval to do so has been granted.
Executive Vice President Edward Healton announced that he will perform the duties of Dean for Medical Education and the school’s chief academic officer when Dean Ray Mitchell concludes his service on June 30 and until a new dean is in place .
