Reporting COVID-19 Exposure Procedure
If you or someone in your household is notified, or if you suspect, that you have been exposed to COVID-19, please email administration at frontdesk@thesummitprep.org. An administrator will contact you during school hours to discuss necessary precautions to follow before returning to the classroom and/or transitioning to Hybrid Learning.

Please stay home.

Administration will maintain communication with your family and notify the appropriate personnel and families if someone in your household tests positive for COVID-19. This information is considered confidential, and your privacy will be maintained in all such communications.

Please contact your primary care provider or the Springfield-Greene County Health Department for more information on COVID-19 and for recommendations on testing and quarantine.

Questions? Contact Front Desk for an administrator.
Winter Weather Procedures
With winter approaching, we would like to provide you with information regarding potential school closings and/or late starts due to inclement weather. A decision to close school or delay the start of the school day will be made as early as possible, and no later than 6:30 a.m.

Please note that, in accordance with current school policy, consideration may be given to starting the school day at 10:00 a.m., when feasible.

School closing or a delayed start will be communicated through TV and radio media, posted on The Summit's social media pages, and communicated through email and text message.

Teachers will provide information regarding "snow day" activities through their email or Google Classroom and on their class blogs. In the event of back-to-back or extended cancellations, teachers will update information each morning by 8:45 a.m.

Please note: Snow day activities are meant to engage students in continued learning during a brief absence from school. The Summit will not implement a transition to distance learning in cases of inclement weather.

In the event of inclement weather that is NOT deemed serious enough to cancel school but creates a situation where it may not be possible for you to safely make it to school, perhaps due to the location of your home, use your best judgment. Absences or late arrivals due to difficult road conditions will be considered excused.

DRIVE SAFELY!

Rest assured, we will exercise good judgment when considering a school closing or delayed start to the school day, always keeping in mind, first and foremost, the well-being of our Summit community members.

Experiments in High School Chemistry
High School scientists are engaging in some exciting experiments in chemistry class! After a safety lesson from Mr. Powers, they used acetone as an organic solvent to dissolve the bonds in styrofoam, reducing it to its basic, gooey structure - although the styrofoam and acetone appear to react vigorously, producing bubbles as the foam begins to melt, there is no chemical change!

Stay tuned as students unveil more mysteries of science in second semester!
Girl Scout Collection Drive - Thank You!
The Junior Girl Scouts want to thank everyone for their generous donations to the humane society collection drive before Winter Break!

Mrs. Collins' 2nd Grade won the class donut party with 100 items donated! Wow!

All in all, 365 items were collected to donate to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri, including toys, blankets, and lots of peanut butter!

Thank you to all - there's sure to be a lot of tail-wagging at the humane society!
