Dear Mountain Laurel families:

I am so sorry to be writing to you today to let you know that this week's round of testing has confirmed a positive of case of Covid-19 in the 1st Grade class. The infected individual was last in school on Friday, 9th April. The class will need to quarantine (stay home & away from others) with immediate effect.

As per our communication sent April 1st, all siblings of 1st grade quarantined students will also need to stay home. This is because we have had a number of siblings who have become infected, we cannot take the risk of continuing to risk further in-school transmision within the school (and therefore needing to continue to quarantine classes when there are new positves) when there is a student whose sibling has been exposed. Although it is more restrictive than out previous policy, because we are noticing very high rates of transmission, we need to tighten our policy given the increased risk of in-school transmission.

However, If the sibling of the 1st grader has recently had covid, they do not need to quarantine.

Teachers and staff who have been in contact with the class and are either fully vaccinated, or have recently had covid do not need to quarantine.

Please contact your class teacher directly for those with siblings in other grades who will need to zoom into class this week. For those with siblings in Kindergarten we will be in touch tomorrow.

Regretfully,

Administration.
