St Joseph High School - A Catholic College Preparatory Community

Dear Friends,
Greetings from St Joes. I hope all is well with your family. This is an exciting and important week for us as we prepare for the official reopening of school on Tuesday, September 8. Our action packed student re-entry week kicks off on Wednesday, also known as “FIT Day”, where we welcome incoming freshman, international, and transfer students followed by orientation activities for Grades 9 &10 on Thursday and concluding with orientation for Grades 11 & 12 on Friday. This is a highly anticipated and very exciting time for all of us – Cadets Coming Home to Joe!
Also, a very sincere and appreciative shout out to the SJ Student Ambassadors for helping us on Campus during the past few weeks with important transitional/reopening activities and starring in instructional videos about important new building usage and safety protocols. Thank you and great job! In addition, fall athletic teams have resumed their conditioning activities and so the exciting and invigorating “hustle and bustle” of a new school year begins. This a wonderfully unique opportunity for all SJ Cadets (students and adults) to set new goals, try new things, and re-commit to personal growth and improvement.
Finally, I ask that you join us in continued prayers of strength, peace and comfort for the Semplice family during this time of personal loss and sadness. The St Joes community has lost an exceptional teacher, friend, and family member and our hearts are heavy. Thank you for your continued support and I wish you a fulfilling week ahead.
In Faith and Fellowship,
David J. Klein
President

Cadet Spotlight: Hailey Cocca '21
|
Congratulations goes out to Hailey Cocca, Class of 2021, who designed this year's Walk-a-thon t-shirt!
Walk-a-thon is the sole student-based fundraiser to benefit the school, so participation is both expected and appreciated. All money raised provides funding for academics, athletics, and physical improvements to school.
Past contributions include air conditioning in the cafeterias, the Broadcasting Room, and remodeling the Commons. Walkathon has a rich history of more than 30 years.
More information on Walkathon will be forthcoming!

Save the Date - Vines & Steins!
|
Vines & Steins is St Joseph High School's annual wine and beer tasting social, supporting our Parents Association. This fall tradition brings our current parents together to meet, mingle, and support local businesses in our area. In 2020, Vines & Steins will have a virtual twist, but will still be a way for parents to connect and promises a fun, interactive evening “in”!
Save the date - more details coming soon from our Advancement Office!

Informational Videos for our Hybrid Model

Many thanks to our Student Ambassadors for assisting us with back-to-school videos that show our students how to navigate St Joes safely and socially distanced.
All last week, we've highlighted the videos on social media, demonstrating how to use our stairwells, main office, classrooms, and lunchrooms.

St Joes Offically Cuts the Ribbon on Renovated Gymnasium!
|
On Friday, August 28, St Joes officially cut the ribbon on our newly-renovated gymnasium and Vito M. Montelli Court!
The ceremony included a blessing from Father Silva, remarks from President Klein; Assistant Principal for Athletics, Kevin Butler; and Board Chair, Christopher Wilson.
This is the first major renovation to the school’s gymnasium. The renovation included replacing and installing new floors, overhauling the bleachers, introducing energy-efficient lighting, and installing a new air conditioning system.
The Gymnasium renovations were fully funded through reserves built exactly for such purposes over many years of sound financial management of the St Joes operating budget, and will not affect the school’s tuition.

Mourning the Loss of a Teacher and a Friend...
|
|
On Friday, we shared with our community the sad news of Greg Semplice’s passing. Señor Semplice shared his enthusiasm for Spanish culture and language with our community for 19 years. He was a man of deep faith and a contagious joy that he gifted to so many generations of St Joe’s students and faculty. His love of the school and those in it will not be soon forgotten. Please keep the Semplice family in your prayers. Counseling services are available for faculty and students - please reach out to Father Silva.
