Recently, I completed a six-week-long professional development through the Crim Fitness Foundation with 25 other educators on self-care and mindfulness. Throughout the program, I learned techniques such as mindful eating, journaling and how to set myself up to be present in meetings. I also learned that you don’t have to be an expert to practice mindfulness.
YouthQuest students will have a special opportunity this summer with Summer on the Road at Genesee Career Institute (GCI). From July 12-21, up to 50 preteens will gain experience with job training programs, learn about future career opportunities and practice leadership and team-building skills.

Flint Southwestern Classical Academy graduate Teshia Smith is following her passion by building her own graphic design and branding business called Artish Design.

In June, YouthQuest students connected virtually for a barbeque family night, put a focus on wellness and planted a garden, and YouthQuest staff participated in a much-needed retreat.

Jobs still available through Summer Youth Initiative
Flint & Genesee Education & Talent is still accepting applications for the 2021 Summer Youth Initiative Program. Great summer jobs with area employers are available!

Genesee County teens can get a head start on preparing to enter the workforce with TeenQuest. The summer session will be held virtually from July 12 – August 14. The program is available to students 14-19 years old, in 9th-12th grade and want to learn important skills to help you get and keep a job.
