I Am Thankful for…
This has been a very, very unprecedented year with unbelievable changes and situations out of our control. The coronavirus pandemic and the pandemic of the rise in hate crimes against people of color have both impacted all of our lives tremendously, but as faithful Christians, we know the importance of staying grounded in our faith and of giving thanks to our God no matter what the situation is. I saw a prayer this week that I thought was so timely:

I Just Want to Thank You Lord!
                                       “We don’t have to…
                                               Know it all,
                                                  Do it all
                                                      Or
                                               Have it all.
                                           We just have to …
                                                 Trust You
                                                  Through
                                                    It All.”
                                             Just Thank You
                                                    Lord!!

In a few weeks, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving and I know that we have so much for which to be thankful. Giving thanks is a part of our daily lives, but it plays a major role in any Thanksgiving celebration. This year at All Saints, we would like for you to share with all of the parishioners some of the things that you are thankful for and use a canvas board to display your thoughts. For example, if you are thankful for the sun, you could draw a sun, cut out a picture of a sunrise from a magazine and paste it on the board, paint a sun, however you choose to visually express your items of thanksgiving. If you’re thankful for your family, paste pictures on your board. Use your imagination and creativity. Display whatever comes to your mind and use whatever art medium you choose. Color, paint, write, cut/paste, photos…. All are welcome.

Our renowned in-house artist, Deb Watson, will put all of the 5x7 boards together and make a huge collage showing what we’re thankful for at All Saints. She will be using a bulletin board in the Parish Hall and we will take a picture of the collage and display the picture in the church newsletter. We will mail each parishioner a 5x7 canvas board along with a stamped, addressed envelope, so that you can return your artwork to Deb Watson. If you need paint, Deb is willing to supply it.  If you would like to participate in this fun, church-wide, Thanksgiving project, please call Hope Sayles on (301) 855-0251(home) or (301) 467-1467(cell) or send her an email at ahopesayles@aol.com to request a packet. We can also have packets available in the back of the church. Remember, you can use anything that you have at home to illustrate what you’re thankful for. We want to have 100% participation to show how we’re thankful!

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
