WHY INCLUSION & DIVERSITY?
Diversity offers a range of input that gives us an edge and drives innovation. Inclusion values those unique perspectives and contributions to our team. At Donohoe, we value our people and the individual differences, unique capabilities, life experiences, knowledge, and ideas that employees bring to the table. It's what brings our achievements to life and solidifies our culture and reputation as a great place to work.

WHY THE DONOHOE INCLUSION & DIVERSITY (I&D) INITIATIVE?
Inclusion comes first because it is the foundational culture of inclusivity that enables diversity to thrive. Diversity represents the various demographics that we embrace and celebrate - age, race, ethnicity, gender, orientation, ability level, skill sets, work experiences, beliefs, marital status, parental status, socioeconomic status, and infinite idiosyncrasies of the human race.

We've formed a diverse and cross-functional I&D committee with representatives from each of the Donohoe's divisions. The I&D committee is tasked to define an I&D mission statement, establish an official company I&D policy, and monitor and track Donohoe's I&D progress and opportunities for enhancement.

WHY NOW?
We already do it. It's now time to name it - and do it better. Inclusion and diversity are pillars of integrity, the fundamental principle of Donohoe's identity. This initiative cements our intention to build and maintain an environment that embraces different perspectives, values everyone's contribution, shows respect, and provides equal opportunity to all employees.

WHAT'S NEXT?
I&D efforts have already begun. The Donohoe Executive Committee has committed to learning how to "Define and Sustain an Inclusive Culture" during a seminar later this week. In August, we'll also be hosting two workshops - one for managers called "Dear Boss, Your Acknowledgement of Racism is Necessary" and one open to all employees called "Recognizing and Responding to Racial Trauma". Look for the opportunity to register for this first I&D seminar beginning next week.
