Dear ECA Families,

We hope you've had a great week, and want to thank you for your continued support and prayers as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 challenges.

We look forward to the return of the 1st, 3rd and 4th grades that have been remote this past week! Be sure to look for an email communication that will be sent out later this afternoon. As a reminder, each of these emails can also be found on the home page under Recent News, and an archive of previous communication can be found on the Administrator's Corner page of the website.

We are in need of some gel hand sanitizers for the Clinic and Music Rooms (preferably with pump dispenser). If you'd like to donate any, please bring to the front office with our thanks!

There's a lot of information to share below, and if you ever have any questions, please reach out by calling the school office. Stay well and have a fantastic weekend!

COVID-19 UPDATE
COVID-19 is an every changing dynamic with updates coming from the CDC, Department of Health, and the OHSAA. Know the following to be true:

  1. We will continue to monitor and stay on top of trends to keep our athletes and families informed of any changes.
  2. It is highly likely that some of our opponents will have a mask policy and social distancing policies that we will have to follow. Please be courteous and respectful of those policies.
  3. Parents will be updated via their coach as we receive information.

Please see the Athletics page on the website to stay up to date at www.ecaoh.com/athletics.

GO LIONS!
GAMERS AFOOT

What it is: Based on input from 13-39 year olds, YPulse has put together a helpful list of some of the most-followed YouTubers and streamers in the gaming world.

What it tells us: It's just a short list of seven gamers, but it illustrates how powerful streamers have become, not just in the gaming industry, but in the entertainment industry as a whole. Gen Zers might not have a "favorite celebrity" in the traditional sense, but many spend hours every week watching gameplay and walk-through videos by these content creators.

Some of them, such as PrestonPlayz, may make videos aimed at kids, keeping dialogue tame and on-screen depictions of violence to a minimum. YouTubers like DaleyTactics may focus on genre-specific gaming, interspersing the latest Star Wars-centric games available.

Still others may not care so much about keeping things PG, especially if the nature of their gameplay is more mature to begin with (think: Call of Duty gamers). You can usually determine pretty quickly whether or not a streamer is playing a more mature game, even if you're not able to tell right away which audience a gamer is aiming for.

A quick skim of the comment section of these videos can also give you a pulse on who else is watching alongside your teen.

INFORMATIONAL
ANONYMOUS TIP LINE
SPEAK Up! By texting or calling the statewide hotline 844-SAFEROH to report anything that is suspicious or endangering you, your friends or your school.

Governor Mike DeWine established the Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) in August 2019 to support schools, first responders, and communities in preventing, preparing for, and responding to threats and acts of violence, including self-harm. One of the resources that the OSSC administers is the Safer Ohio School Tip Line.

Victimizations, bullying, and other disorders such as drug and alcohol use are often not reported directly to school authorities or event to parents and guardians. Oftentimes this is because students do not want to be identified, do not want a friend or classmate in trouble, or do not know how or where to report these threats.

The Safer Ohio School Tip Line helps bridge that gap and enables information to be shared by students to law enforcement and school officials, even outside of the school day.
