Volunteer in the Elderberry Box Fundraiser!

The Elder Berry Box fundraiser for our Elder Services location in Coralville is coming up in July and we need your help preparing meals, putting orders together, and many other easy jobs! This would be a fun group activity, and there are easy jobs for families to do together! Shifts will be between 9:00am and 4:00pm depending on the day!

Iowa City Commuter Volunteers Needed!

We have an immediate need for volunteers who are available between 9:00 and 10:30 am weekdays to help us deliver food to our Iowa City/Coralville location.

Around 9:00am, empty and coolers from the previous day’s deliveries would need to be picked up at our Coralville location and driven up to our location in Cedar Rapids. They would then be swapped out for full bags of hot lunches and coolers of drinks. The volunteer would then deliver the meals and coolers to the Coralville location where our volunteer coordinator would handle the distribution of them. There are 13 insulated food bags and 13 small coolers, so vehicle size might be a factor in this case. We expect this shift to take about 1.5-2 hours. We can also reverse the order of pickup/drop off if you are starting in Cedar Rapids.

If you're interested in volunteering for this volunteer position, or would like more information, email khill@horizonsfamily.org.

Horizons Volunteers Win Governor's Award!
We are pleased to announce that two of our volunteers, Erica Ly, and Clarence Boesenburg are recipients of the Iowa Governor's Volunteer Award. Both Erica and Clarence have shown exceptional dedication to Horizons and our clients.

The 2021 Governor’s Volunteer Award ceremony will be virtual and is planned for July 14, 2021. All 2021 awardees will also have the opportunity to attend our in-person ceremonies when they resume in 2022, where they may have their photo taken with the Governor.

Please join us in congratulating Clarence and Erica!

Roxi has tranisitioned seamlessly into driving a delivery route once per week in addition to volunteering for several other organizations in the area and keeping up with her big family!
