Kuwait Finance Minister Forms New Kuwait Airways Board
KUWAIT, Aug 27 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Minister of Finance signed a resolution Thursday forming the board of Kuwait Airways for a three-year term. The Board will be chaired by Captain Ali Al-Dakhan, and consists of Faisal Al-Ghareeb, Adel AlYousefi, Ahmad Al-Ibrahim, Khaled Al-Suwaifan, Khaled Al-Mutairi and Adel Al-Sane.

50,000 Spouses to Get Catch-up Economic Impact Payments
WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service will soon send catch-up Economic Impact Payment checks to about 50,000 individuals whose portion of the EIP was diverted to pay their spouse's past-due child support. These catch-up payments are due to be issued in early-to-mid-September. They will be mailed as checks to any eligible spouse who submitted Form 8379, Injured Spouse Allocation, along with their 2019 federal income tax return, or in some cases, their 2018 return.

Middle Market Business Index Shows Long-Term Economic Impact of COVID-19
The RSM US Middle Market Business Index captures sentiment among businesses that the effects from the pandemic will not be a short-term affair. With the ongoing pandemic and recent surge in cases, the economic outlook remains bleak. A mere 27% of middle market leaders saw an improvement in the economy, and only 42% expect to see improvement in the next six months. This is a drop in confidence from the previous monthly MMBI, where 56% of executives said they expected the economy to improve in six months.

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today issued a memorandum (PDF) that provides interim guidance to the agency's compliance staff on requests to designate issues for litigation.
Designation of issues for litigation, a decision that is made with the Office of Chief Counsel, limits a taxpayer's opportunity to administratively resolve their case with the IRS Independent Office of Appeals.
