UL Qualified SFRM Contractor Program
NFCA announces NEW UL Partnership - NFCA and UL are happy to reintroduce the UL Qualified SFRM Contractor Program (UL QSCP) focused on quality installation procedures and the resulting fire and life safety, that comes from fireproofing being installed correctly.

NFCA's Contractor Accreditation Program is a vital part of the UL Program. It's required to be a NFCA Accredited SFRM Contractor with a NFCA DRI to get started. Then, the fireproofing contractor's management system (procedures) is audited by UL Personnel at the office and a jobsite.

SPECIAL OFFER
UL is offering special pricing to contractors who purse the UL QSCP by 12/31/20 . Contact NFCA today to learn how you can take advantage of this special offer!

NFCA 2020 Fireproofing Educational Conference
The 2020 NFCA Educational Conference is still postponed. NFCA is watching how states are opening up and monitoring the situation closely. Look for a decision sometime this summer - go or no go.

If we do not hold the NFCA Conference and Education Program, we will have options for those who want to take the NFCA SFRM and IFRM Fireproofing Exams later in the year.
NFCA Representing the Industry
NFCA Committee Meetings
NFCA's Technical and Education Committee has met twice in the last month. The Code Committee, along with the Canada Committee, meet soon to discuss the 2024 International Code Council, NFPA and National Building Code of Canada's Code Development Cycles and NFCA's proposals.
NFCA @ ASTM
Standards and code development work is a long term effort. It can take 2-15+ years to get standards developed and into codes. NFCA is watching several standards development issues going on at ASTM. The Fireproofing inspection standards continue moving forward with negatives narrowing down to just a few at the Subcommittee level. ASTM E 736 Standard Test Method for Cohesion/Adhesion of Sprayed Fire-Resistive Materials Applied to Structural Members, has some adjustments going on and several of the standards are renewing. NFCA has members active at ASTM and a voice at the table.
ICC Process Already Going
NFCA is watching the Code Action Committees (CAC) at the International Code Council’s Code Development Process. The F-Fire and B-Building CAC’s and the discussions going on now. These are all part of the 2024 Code Development Cycle…where each CAC will bring code proposals to the hearings.
NFPA's Process Starting
The 2024 versions of NFPA 5000 and NFPA 101 are both starting soon. NFCA’s Bill McHugh is a member of the Fire Protection Features Committee at NFPA and participates in the process.
